Unabridged Audiobook
I love this book. Original, imaginative, and I just love the writing style.
The tale is wonderful and engaging, just as it was the first time I read it in print as a teenager. the narrator, while having a good voice for the descriptive texts, unfortunately seems to only be able to do a John Wayne impersonation or a very rural-sounding accent for the "manly men" voices he chose to give some characters. I was not a fan of the performance.
I love this book. I have been a real fan of the " Dragonriders of Pern " series. this story has a lot of technological jargon that slows down the story however, it is a good strong read with sad elements (I will not say what was sad). The narrator Mel Foster, has a good voice but the characters voices were not consistent and pretty much sounded was the same. That being said, I would listen to book over and over again.
Do you like fantasy? This has elements of that in the fire breathing, teleporting dragons. Do you like Sci-Fi? There is an AI unit that wants to aid in ridding this world of thread. This story more than ever will have you appreciating the people of this world. Anne McCaffrey is one of a kind in the best of ways.
Probably the best book in the series!
This is very well done. This is my favorite Pern novel. thanks audiobooks.
