Unabridged Audiobook
Any book the makes me go "awe" at the end is good by me.
Poorly written, gov.
I loved the lore of Rapture. I already knew the game. Haven't played it tho si I did not know the plot of it. It was really interesting, but the female characters are catastrophically shallow and uninteresting.
I am a huge fan of the original Bioshock game, so I was skeptical this book could mirror the amazing plot. But it really did. The lore is so deep, the author did a great job researching for this book.
A good book that brings to life so much of what you may have learned and encountered in game. It certainly has made me want to go back and play it again! Narration was a bit flat, e.g. at times of tension (gunfight etc), the narration was somewhat monotonal which took away from the drama...
I never played the game because it wasn't my thing but figured I'd try the book and it turned out to be quite amazing. Will honestly listen to it again because I enjoyed it so much. I loved the narration of the book as well and was sad when it ended.
I listened to this book twice and at the end of the second listening I still felt as if I was missing huge plot points. I wanna say this author follows the footsteps of Charles Dickens, as in he goes off on very detailed tangents that have absolutely nothing to do with the plot. I understand world building but on the same token this story focuses on so much world building that you don't really build an understanding of the characters or aspects of the story. It could be because I haven't been through other books in this series but honestly after this book I have no desire to read other books in this series.
I love this book because it brought more information and significance to the series.
I couldn't make it more than five minutes into this book. The narrator is terrible. The book itself is a fun adaptation of Bioshock's story, and does a great job in depicting the buildup to the conflict within Rapture. Buy the book, though. Unless your voice is more annoying than this narrator
