Summary
Drawing strong comparisons to the work of James Lee Burke and Tony Hillerman, William Kent Krueger's Cork O'Connor mysteries never fail to please fans. Here Cork joins the search for a country-western singer who has disappeared in the wilderness along the American/Canadian border. 'Krueger's writing, strong and bold yet with the mature mark of restraint, pulls this exciting search-and-rescue mission through with a hard yank.'-Publishers Weekly

The Cork O’Conner mysteries are as entertaining as they are educational! I appreciate the cultural insight presented throughout these page-turning books. Once I start, I simply can’t put them down!

Love the history, Native American lore and regional topography descriptions as much as the story line. Thank you …hopefully I’ll remember the Monji-Manatu (sp?) in story telling to my grands

This book was good. I got it as part of the book club. It isn't a book that was gripping and intense but a good read.

One of the best books we've heard in a long time. I particularly liked the way the author painted the pictures of the lakes and surrounding areas. Love the narrator too.

My husband and I are listening to this series on a road trip and we’re both enjoying how the author is developing the characters. The real hero in this book was the boy, Lewis. I don’t think the title is very compelling. I would’ve titled this book ‘Brother of the Wolf’. Love the significance of passing Ojibway stories along to the next generation.

Great writer, I love his series around iron lake. The narration took me a minute, but think he has stole my heart. Have listened to book 1, 2, purchased three already - just started

Did not want to stop listening. I intend to look for more from this writer.

A highly successful musician has hidden herself deep in the wilderness of the Boundary Waters to heal from the pressures of success. But others are searching for her; and not to help her. Cork is called on to find and protect this woman. The woman’s father, the FBI, and a mobster are all anxious to find her, but their reasons are varied and suspicious. Cork must trust no one as the forces converge. Krueger brings another exciting and beautifully written adventure to the table. The story has all the twists and surprises expected in a thriller of this caliber. I just love this series.

The book itself was in routine. The narrator was excellent. The minor inflexions toward the different characters made it more enjoyable. All in all I would recommend this book to someone else.
