This book is a brilliant conclusion to the Poppy Wars series. What hurts is you can see the ending coming from how the series has been written, but R.F. Kuang commits to the ending until even as you are coming to the last minutes, you hope things were different in some way, and yet you know it cannot, and in that way, you love the ending all the more.
Maybe some of the elements are not what some might like, but having been a fan of the first two novels and the reading by Emily Woo Zeller, I will say this was everything I hoped for. I can only hope as many people as possible enjoy this as I have.
I put off reading this because i knew how my heart would break and yet, there’s no other way this series could have ended without feeling like a cop out. RF Kuang has skyrocketed up my list of all-time favorite authors at this point.
Also the narration by Emily Woo-Zeller is such an amazing addition to the experience.
