Summary
Magic, mayhem and madness explode in this third installment in the Jessica McClain series.
Jessica McClain is on the run. . . again.

Finally reunited with Rourke, Jessica arrives home to find that her best friend has been kidnapped, her father has vanished, and the supernatural Sects -- witches, demons, and sorcerers -- don't even have the courtesy to wait until she is unpacked to attack.
Now, mastering her powers as the sole female werewolf might not be enough to save them. Thrown together in a shaky truce with the Vampire Queen, Jessica must show all the different Sects what the true meaning of 'the enemy of my enemy' is or her father will die. . .

WOW. Jessica and gang doesn’t get a chance to take a breath. Jessica finally has her mate Rourke by her side. But it’s no honeymoon. They are stilling hitting the ground running after the events in Hot Blooded. Now that Rourke is safe the gang has to focus on saving Jessica’s dad. While keeping Jessica out of the grasp of what seems like every supe group in the world. Vamps, witches, demons, ghosts and more. Cold Blooded is a supernatural alphabet soup with every little werewolf action this time around. While Cold Blooded it non stop action I would like to have seen more down time for the gang. I felt like Jessica and Rourke needed more time to really build their mate bond than what they’ve received in the series so far. I liked the complex story line that leads Jessica and gang from the Ozark Mountains to the New Orleans. Even though Jessica was raised within the werewolf pack she has a learning curve since she is new werewolf. But luckily she has a great support team to help her feel her way around. And head of that team seems to be her wolf that seems to know a lot about the supe world and their power. But it looks like she only gives Jessica the info on a need to know base. Cold Blooded leaves us wondering what is next for Jessica and the demons. I’m hoping since the next book’s title is Red Blooded that there will be some blood shield because Jessica and the gang has been pretty lucky up to the is point. It’s time for someone to get hurt or even die. WHAT? I know but it’s Urban Fantasy, we need a little darkness and sadness. I read rest of the series but this time around I decided to give the audio a try since I was running behind on my reading schedule. Torres Plumber goes a great job with the female voices and the male voices that have accents. But the male characters like Rourke, Tyler and Nick, she doesn’t do a good job of making their voices different and at times it was hard to follow who was “speaking”. But I’ve had that problem with other narrators so I won’t hold it against her. But one thing that did bug me about the narration job was when Jessica speak to her brother Tyler mind to mind. At first their voices was done in a whisper when they were “mind talking” but later the narrator dropped that and had them speaking in normal tones. It was a little confusing. So while the narrator was not bad (I would give her another try narrating a different book) I think I’ll stick to reading this series.
