Compelling People: The Hidden Qualities That Make Us Influential

Stop listening about an hour in. This boom is full of lies about women in the work place, especially in workplaces that involve the sciences. I have a degree in Engineering Technology and work for a company who designs/manufactures LED lights. Like most companies in my field, we put extra effort into hiring women. If two candidates have the same qualifications, we hire the female every time, this is true of every single company I have worked for. Stop spreading your bias nonsense.

A very racist book with a lot of stereotypes.

Do you recall a meeting that lasted too long and would have been better as a brief email? My thoughts while listening was that this situation was playing out in book form. I thought it took far too long to reach each point and the points it made weren’t very interesting. Also, this book relies heavily on the assumptions of critical theory, so if you’re into that type of thing you might find it more compelling than I did.

Great book - will def re listen to it. Relationships are the key to life - being able to make better relationships is the key to a life well lived

I literally stopped 5 minutes in, thinking, “this certainly CANNOT be what he’s saying….that if people don’t show their power and that they command respect, they don’t have much to offer us”. A sad view that further marginalizes people groups. Bummer.
