Summary
How many people get to solve their own murder?

Anne Murphy is smart, gorgeous, and young, the red-headed rookie at the Philadelphia law firm of Rosato & Associates. She leaves town for the Fourth of July weekend to prepare for a high-profile trial, but when she buys her morning newspaper, her own photo is plastered all over the front page. And the headline -- LAWYER MURDERED -- supposedly refers to her. Anne sets out to find her killer, playing dead in order to stay alive.

She tries to go it alone but quickly realizes that she'll have to trust people she barely knows -- colleagues who hate her guts, a homicide squad who wants her out of the crime-fighting business, and a new love who inconveniently happens to be opposing counsel. The investigation takes all of Anne's boldness and ingenuity -- plus a pair of red satin hot pants. But her knack for courting trouble makes it almost impossible for Anne to play well with others, defend the lawsuit, and fight her urge to sleep with the enemy. Then an unexpected event places her in lethal jeopardy and leaves her with everything to lose -- including her life.

This is one of the best books I have listened to or read in a long time. You think you are finished and than there is more and again you think it has ended and there is still more. One of the books that when you listen in your car and get to your destination you stay in the car and keep listening.

Good story and well read. It kept me going through my commute time and a couple of times I ended up siting in the parking lot for an extra 5 minutes to get to the next scene. Very engaging.

Another great book by Lisa Scottoline. The narrator is not my favourite though...

I found this book to be pretty good, interesting and kept my interest for the most part. However, as the book went on, I grew increasingly displeased with the tone and voice of the narrator. I found her to be monotone and but plain boring. However, I do think she did a good job with the philly accents. I felt she was taking some lines and emphasizing them incorrectly or just saying them so quickly as if the multiple sentences were all one sentence and thereby, losing the point or drama the author had written. While I enjoyed the book up until the last half when it was supposed to get exciting, I found myself wanting to be done with the book just so I could stop having to listen to the narrator. I would hesitate before selecting another book including this narrator. She just wasn't my style.

Another Scottoline winner......good plot, evolving into a understandable interesting story.....the "villain" is a surprise....typical of Lisa Scottoline's talent......Narration a plus......

I always enojoy Scottoline. I think I would have enjoyed this one more in the unabridged verson. It is still a very good listen and worth your time.

This book provided more insight into the characters (and I do mean characters) at Rosato & Associates. I just love this group of people and the people that orbit them. However... enough with the shoes already! Does this woman have a fetish or what? In every book we get to find out who done it, but we also end up knowing who wears what designer's shoes, or what type of shoes, or how someone looks in shoes, or how someone feels in or out of shoes. Sheesh! Yeah, I'll keep reading LS's books regardless. They're too much fun not to.

THIS BOOK WAS BORING AND IT WAS OBVIOUS THAT KEVIN DIDN'T DO THE KILLING FOR HER TO BE A SMART LAWYER AND MAKE SUCH STUPID MISTAKES MADE IT HARD TO BELIEVE AND THE BOOK IS SO SLOW IT WAS PUTTING ME TO SLEEP I DONT'THINK I WILL EVER READ ANOTHER BOOK BY THIS AUTHOR

Fast, furious, light-hearted fun with moments of danger. This is another good one from Scottoline. The author does a good job of showing us the world inside a female law firm, mistaken identity, high-stakes corporate lawsuits, and marital strife. There's never a dull moment at the firm of Rossato & Associates.

I was pleasantly surprised by the ending. The author does not give you one clue as to who really did it. In the beginning I thought this was like any other book. I was sure I knew how it was going to end. Boy gets girl and bad guy goes to jail. I would recommend anyone who likes a good love story with a little mystery to rent this CD.

Really a good story with the attitude of 'what's next?'...keeps you guessing. Lots of story and action in this one.

I enjoyed the story and while the narrator and actress, Kate Burton (whom I enjoy and have seen on t.v. many times) speaks beautifully and her words and pronounciation are crystal clear, her tone was often monotone, falling into a specific cadence which became boring and distracting. However, the story kept me interested, was well written and had an unexpected, surprise twist. I would highly recommend this book.

This is the kind of book you'd want to curl up with. I was sorry the CD I was listening to was abridged because I didn't want to miss any of it.
