This was a unique, intriguing, and captivating listen. I loved how each of the band members had their own voice. I truly felt like a was there and could easily visualize this story. Great listen, I highly recommend.
This was a very fun listen that completely immersed me in the story. Highly recommend this, as well as anything else by this author.
A book about a fictional band? How unique can that be? But somehow it’s fun and entertaining and had me wishing they’d really exist. Narrators are great.
Love the story and it’s narrators. I’m about 1/2 through the audio book and I’m getting sleepy from the way each person is interviewed like watching a documentary on tv, except this documentary isn’t 2 hours long. I’m not sure if the book is written in this same format but having a hard time wanting to continue listening to the storytelling documentary style.
I wanted to love this book. The first few minutes drew me right in and the writing style tried its hardest to hold me. However, I found myself a little bored in the middle, not fully invested in the characters or storyline. But I made it to the end and it offered a twist that did feel satisfying. I would call this a quick beach read or a good stop gap between heavier books.
This book was not what I was expecting at all. Daisy is obnoxious and thinks no rule applies to her simply because she’s privileged, rich, and everyone calls her beautiful. She decides she wants a MARRIED man she can’t have and their working relationship is romanticized as love? I swear every time I had to read about Daisy and Billy longing for each other while singing into one another’s eyes onstage I wanted to throw my phone. This was nothing but a bunch of adults bickering like petulant children and nothing else. I don’t understand the hype for this story. It makes me even more leery of ratings by the masses. If this is what passes as great literature or great storytelling now, I’m concerned.
Loved this book and the narrators. Was sad when it ended!!
The story is awesome, I enjoyed the story. All the characters are pretty complex, and they have their own issues and desires. Billy, Daisy, and Camilla were at the forefront of the story, and then there was also Karen and Graham. All these characters, plus some of the more minor characters all triggered emotional reactions from me. I was intrigued, angry, sad, and irritated from start to finish. I think good books evokes all those emotions, listening to the audiobook help me better understand the character’s emotional struggles, and that made the reading experience even richer. I rated the story 4 out of 5 stars because while the story was addicting and the characters captivating, the interview format was REALLY started to get on my nerves when I was about 80% finished with the book. It was pages and pages of essentially dialogue, I felt like I want the dialogue to be broken up the way The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo was broken up, but that’s just my opinion.
Started reading the book after mid-way through the series. Loved Jennifer Beals as Daisy Jones!!! overall, all the voice actions were great and complementary to the show. The song at the end, wish we had the lyrics with it / someone singing on the track.
This book was okay. The style was very similar to Evelyn Hugo, but I’m not sure if it’s equal to (the Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo) or worse than.
As a woman writing from a woman’s perspective, this book is only written like there is one woman prototype: the woman who is in love/ wants to be loved.
Karen is written like some after-thought, secondary character, to show you what happens if women don’t choose a specific path (and are doomed to unhappiness).
Narration was 10/10, no notes.
I didn’t expect to love this story as much as I did. The book was well written, and the plot was intriguing, but the narration by the talented cast members absolutely made the story come alive. Highly recommend.
I really enjoyed this book and the different voices narrating the story. It was very believable.
Good writing, I like the documentary style, seemed like a real story. Reminded me of Stevie Nicks and Fleetwood Mac.
The audiobook narrators made it easy to follow too.
The narration was amazing. I think the print version would be lacking a bit, since the various voice actors really brought this book to life for me.
Fabulous book- literally could not put it down. The narration was superb!
Wow. This book sounds like the most vivid, realistic dream. It didn't happen, but it could have. There may even be a band out there with a story like this.
A perfect adaptation of an amazing with great voice actors
The style of this book was a little irritating it does not allow for character development very choppy although some people may really enjoy it, this book is not a story its more of a conversation and opinion nothing to ground yourself to for what was the reality?
Love the multiple narrators. Feels like a real documentary!
I didn’t like this book. Sorta boring I thought. The narrator was pretty good though.
very interesting book much different format then the other ones from the same author
All I can say is, meh.
I loved the narration of this title. Definitely enhanced the story.
The audio itself was great. I loved all the different people narrating. I did not enjoy this book at all. It was slow, boring, and really there is nothing major that happens. It’s a boring story.
the narrators did a fantastic job
so good, i definitely recommend the audiobook for this although i did follow along with a physical. i finished this in two days and loved it so much.
Amazing book, my favorite from the author.
I wish I had paid more attention to the fact that this entire book is in a documentary format. Not a fan.
What a great story I loved it. The way the different narrations come in and out was perfect story telling.
The ending was very emotional, and I was expecting a song at the end. There was music but nobody sang… it felt hollow. It was a great story about a band but without a song it felt like a huge part was missing
An amazing story.
I loved this book!! It was a even more fascinating listening to it. The story told through interviews was so clever. It made it feel like this band really did exists. I was truly sad and even she’d a few tears when it was over.
wow, this book blew me away. last chapter clinched the book in the 5 star for me!
I think I may have been disappointed because it was so highly hyped. I thought the concept was really unique but when you are watching a documentary about a famous band you’d hear their music. It was a big piece to be missing. You are also missing the attachment to the characters at the beginning. It ended strong as you begin to develop attachments to the characters.
Great story but also what a cool experience with all the various cast members speaking.
The narrators were so good!!!
The narrative was amazing and I loved the story and how it brings you into the carefree vibe of the 70s
The various voices kept me engaged. It kept the script interesting. This type of reading gave the book the dimension it needed. Rating the language usage would have been helpful.
my far one of my favorite audio books!! definitely a must!!
Fantastic! I wanted it to be a true story!!! Loved the narrators so much. Wonderful story! I could hardly take breaks, didn’t want it to end!
So so good! I hated for it to end! Can’t wait for the movie!
this was one of the best audiobooks I've ever listened to. my husband even started listening from another room. The narrators are all so well suited to their roles. I will read everything this author writes.
I didn’t enjoy the format of a series of quotes to follow the story. The story was really the Fleetwood Mac Rumours LP. It wasn’t great. Except for the rich voice of Benjamin Bratt, it wasn’t a great listen.
So good! I was sad when it was over.
This is my first audiobook ever and I loved it !!
I was wanting to read this since the book came out. I’m so glad that I listened to it instead. What an amazing experience. It made the amazing book just that much better. I highly recommend this audiobook.
This book is great, especially if we were young at that time!!
Loved this! Presented like a ‘talking heads’ documentary, with the various characters describing how the band was formed, developed and was finally disbanded. Really felt that I got to know and understand those involved, and got caught up in the story.
I highly recommend.
I’d heard about this book and gave it a download. It was fantastic. The actors doing the rolls make it like listening to a movie (or a radio show). I loved it from beginning to end.
Such a phenomenal cast of complex characters that I had to stop mid-way through to read-up on which real-life band inspired the story. The varied and talented narrators helped to keep the the dialogue from getting confusing... I only wish it came with a complete soundtrack as my imagination is, sadly, a bit musically challenged.
I loved this book! The story was amazing - believable and touching - with great character development - characters that I really grew to care about. All the individual voices made each character come alive. I cannot recommend this book highly enough...it’s fantastic! I didn’t want it to end!
Narration made the book. I doubt I could have read this story.
It is really difficult for me to say something about this book because of how many emotions I had while reading it but, overall I can tell you, it was an amazing read.
I had a great time listening to it and it got me thinking about a lot of things (and those are my favorite kind of books).
Took me on stage. then back stage. I felt the swagger and the desperation. i could feel the conversations and go with the next move. well written and with a window open to reality.
Amazing story and narrators. At first I thought it was going to be the same old rock-n-roll story, but it’s deeper than that. Truly entertaining. Narrators nailed it.
Best book I’ve read this year!! Love it.
Incredible story & incredibly written! Loved the varying narrators!
I love the way this book had you questioning whether it was a true story and narration of a bands tale.
I agree with Kathy L
Such a great story, I listened straight through!
I love this book! It reads like a documentary- I thought for the first few chapters it was a true story! Obsessed with the story and these characters!!
This was the best book I have listened.
Wow! I sat in my car the last 15 mins I could not stop listening! I had to hear the ending. And then I was sad it was over. I loved the narration of this book so much!
It captures you from beginning to end. I loved the twist at the end. Great narration!
couldn't stop listening. it felt like I was there!
