But when Deronda rescues a poor Jewish girl from drowning, he discovers a world of Jewish culture previously unknown to him. A remarkable book, not-to-be-missed, deftly narrated by Wanda McCaddon. I can't imagine anyone a good as Kate Reading in Middlemarch, but she comes very close.
