Summary
One of the most respected and awarded of all contemporary science fiction writers, Connie Willis repeatedly amazes her many admiring fans with her ability to create vivid characters in unusual situations. With Doomsday Book, she takes listeners on a thrilling trip through time to discover the things that make us most human. For Oxford student Kivrin, traveling back to the 14th century is more than the culmination of her studies-it's the chance for a wonderful adventure. For Dunworthy, her mentor, it is cause for intense worry about the thousands of things that could go wrong. When an accident leaves Kivrin trapped in one of the deadliest eras in human history, the two find themselves in equally gripping-and oddly connected-struggles to survive. Deftly juggling stories from the 14th and 21st centuries, Willis provides thrilling action-as well as an insightful examination of the things that connect human beings to each other. Jenny Sterlin's warm narration adds an emotional depth that makes Doomsday Book an unforgettable experience.

This is truly a fantastic book. I have read it a number of times in the softback version. The narration on the audio is good and the narrator does a great job of getting the characters across to the ready.

I enjoyed it! My only complaint is the 26 hours seemed like 3. Absolutely great narrator.

Enjoyed this book. Narrator was good too.

The narrator was outstanding! Sometimes that can make or break a book, but in this case, even the narrator was not enough! This would have been a great book but for one thing- it was about eleven hours too long! Had the story been told in a less repetitive manner, it would have been FAR more engaging.

An excellent story that should have been edited down quite a bit. Characters make endless lists of things that could have happened or might have happened or didn’t happen. Simple plot development takes forever. Good characters that waste a lot of time wringing their hands.

Amazing story. I found it when I was looking for more stories narrated by the wonderful Jenny Sterlin. I cried, I laughed, I held my breath, and I was sorry when it ended. I'm off to find more by both the author and the narrator. Happy listening- you won't regret it.
