Summary
Don’t miss the eagerly anticipated epic new fantasy from Christopher Paolini—Murtagh!

A new adventure hatches in Book One of the Inheritance Cycle, perfect for fans of Lord of the Rings! This New York Times bestselling series has sold over 40 million copies and is an international fantasy sensation.

'Christopher Paolini is a true rarity.' —The Washington Post

When fifteen-year-old Eragon finds a polished blue stone in the forest, he thinks it is the lucky discovery of a poor farm boy. But when the stone brings a dragon hatchling, Eragon soon realizes he has stumbled upon a legacy nearly as old as the Empire itself.

Overnight his simple life is shattered, and, gifted with only an ancient sword, a loyal dragon, and sage advice from an old storyteller, Eragon is soon swept into a dangerous tapestry of magic, glory, and power. Now his choices could save—or destroy—the Empire.

Amazing app

Profile Avatar Kilhea Jenesse Feb 2022

narrative isn't so great when it comes to sapphirea but everything else is good.

Profile Avatar Desmond Oct 2021

I think I may have found my new series, it's something a dragon series that just loops you in; Dragons Temeraire Series, Dragons Misfits Series and now this. Bring on the next book! Awesome narrator as well!

Profile Avatar Brandon Wickersham Sep 2019

Great book, pulls you right into the story. Narrator does a wonderful job

Profile Avatar Britton M. Oct 2018

really, good read

Profile Avatar Kerri R. Jul 2018

The magic was cool

Profile Avatar spencer hicks Feb 2017

Yoda sounding dragon voice, book is amazing though

Profile Avatar Zander M. Aug 2024

This has always been my favorite series, but I'd never listened to the audiobooks. Gerard Doyle did an amazing job making this book come to life and I can't wait to listen to the rest!

Profile Avatar Malachi N. Jun 2024

one of my favorite books growing up.

Profile Avatar James A. Jan 2024

The book is fantastic, Gerard Doyle is also great except for his voice for Saphira. Sounds like Yoda.

Profile Avatar Riley N. Oct 2023

Great book. Hate the way he portrayed Saphira’s voice. She’s majestic, not a retired smoker.

Profile Avatar Richie Sep 2023

Great story! The movie was a flop but the book captures the imagination, however the voice used for the dragon is unbearable at first, you get used to it

Profile Avatar Stephen W. Apr 2023

I love the books (even if they're a bit childish), but Gerard Doyle completely ruins the audiobook for me. He voices Saphira as if sje were some sort pf brutish, stumpy, goblin. Its absolutely terrible and I would never recommend this over the actual book.

That is the best story I have ever listen to that I am already following up on the series right now. The narrator does an awesome job reading it too.

Profile Avatar Julia C. Jul 2022

Always one of my favorite books, great to hear it narrated so well

Profile Avatar Carter P. Jun 2022

Amazing narration

Profile Avatar Mandy Stephens May 2022

I really enjoyed how the story is set up. the relationships among the characters are favorite. The voices the narrator gi es each character are fitting and do not change as the book develops

Profile Avatar Anonymous Mar 2022

i greatly appreciated the narrators use of different voices for the characters although a few of them felt silly because of the differences in dialect and accent from my own

Profile Avatar Red Diz 2 Mar 2022

I remember reading this when I was a kid and years later I still loved it. I'm going to read the whole series now as I never got a chance to finish as a kid.

Profile Avatar Anonymous Jan 2022

I listened to the sample and didn't hear it coming at all, but Gerard Doyle's dragon voice is simply unbearable. He does a great job with everything else, but unfortunately this one issue was significant enough to be a deal-breaker. If you can't tolerate anything more than moderate character voices, I wouldn't recommend this.

Profile Avatar Master T. Oct 2021

I've loved it's back since it came out. the only criticism I have, I don't like the choice the actor chose for saphira.

Profile Avatar Phillip M. Oct 2021

excellent! my 4th round of reading these books

Profile Avatar Craig Allen Jun 2021

This is my favorite book of all time. when I was in 7th grade this book ignited my passion for reading. I've read this book over 100 times.. no joke. the audio book is great allowed me to experience it in a new light. don't watch the movie... it's trash.

Profile Avatar Anonymous Apr 2021

The sample that they give you is a person with an American accent but then when you buy the book it's a different person with an English accent. Not that there's anything wrong with that but me being in America would prefer to hear an American accent because I'm distracted by the different words that are pronounced differently by somebody with an English accent and it distracts me from the story.

Profile Avatar Elizabeth T. Mar 2021

It took me a while to get used to the narration, but I ended up loving it.

Profile Avatar Jorge F Jan 2021

Great listen!

Profile Avatar Anonymous Jan 2021

i enjoyed the book. The narrator did an amazing job pulling me into the story.

Profile Avatar Cameron C. Aug 2020

Boys love this book!

Profile Avatar Douglas A. Jun 2020

I love this book so much

Profile Avatar Ben Sloan Jun 2020

great audiobook

Profile Avatar Anonymous May 2020

This is such an awesome series, and it has a lot of similarities to Lord of the Rings, which may bother some. But I love the characters, the story, and the ending is magic. Narrator might be the best of all (even with Yoda pretending to be Saphira.

Profile Avatar Anonymous Apr 2020

Awesome story! I enjoy listening to the narrator nice voices they keep you interested...

Profile Avatar Steven C. Apr 2020

loved the story! the narrator was pretty good, but he made sapphia sound like Yoda which annoyed me sometimes.

Profile Avatar Patrick M. Apr 2020

Great book, high school nostalgia for me. Great narration, I enjoyed the voices used and that everything (even weird words) were said clearly, corrected the pronunciation I used.

Profile Avatar Anonymous Feb 2020

Fantastic book, but good heavens Saphira sounds like the Cookie Monster. And he made Arya sound like an airhead.

Profile Avatar James B. Feb 2020

Loved this book series growing up, and hearing it on an audiobook is even better. The narrator does a great job. Highly recommend!

Profile Avatar Lane T. Nov 2019

An amazing book, and Doyle is an amazing reader, each character he voices is so vastly different, it's quite incredible

Profile Avatar Anonymous Aug 2019

Great story line and lots of action

Profile Avatar Anonymous Aug 2019

Gerard does a wonderful job of varying character voices. I could listen to him all day!

Profile Avatar Joshua V. May 2019

amazing book and series.

Profile Avatar Eric A. Apr 2019

God I love this book series other then a few plot holes, but for the love of God I cant stand oricks voice in this book he sounds autistic with the speech setting set to half!

Profile Avatar Codi W. Mar 2019

Great book! The Narrator is great!!!

Profile Avatar Yari M. Dec 2018

Only complaint I can think of is the voice of Saphira and Arya oh and the pronounciation of some names

Profile Avatar robin h Mar 2018

It is a great book to listen to you in the narrator is a great narrator he does a good job explaining everything and tell him the story

Profile Avatar Stephen P Feb 2018

Second time enjoying this book. First ever audio book. I love listening to stories when Im on the go. Easy to use app to boot. The narrator wasnt my favorite for every voice but still overall great.

Profile Avatar Anonymous Feb 2018

Amazing its description is great it’s very interesting

Profile Avatar elliott f Oct 2017

not a fan of the voice he used to represent Saphirra and Solumbum. otherwise very well done!

Profile Avatar robert h Oct 2017

One of my absolute favorite book series! This novel kicks off an incredible journey of a boy thrust into a world beautifully portrayed by Christopher Paolini as well as the narrorater Gerard Doyle. I recommend it to anyone who enjoys a great story!

Profile Avatar Genita R Aug 2017

Great book. My son and I listened to the first book every chance we got. We couldn't wait to see what adventures were up next. My son is excited to download and listen to book two. The narrator did an amazing job with the voices of each character.

Profile Avatar Kris O May 2017

Amazing book I wish they had more in the series. The narration voice did make me laugh at times.

Profile Avatar nate hill Jan 2017

Good read but sapphire sounds like yoda

Profile Avatar Kathryn Beck Nov 2016

Just read Lord of the Rings. This just has an added dragon.

Profile Avatar Amie Hadder Jul 2016

Very good for a my first audio book, his voice for Siphira was a little off putting though,, otherwise fantastic

Profile Avatar Mathew Rossiter Jun 2016

The narrator's voices for some of the characters was comical at times. However it was a fantastic book and read rather well. I highly recommend it.

Profile Avatar Edward Reynolds Jun 2016

This is a fantastic series and the narrator gave an interesting spin on Saphira's voice that I would not have done myself.

Profile Avatar Jayson Westberry May 2016

great book, but guy made saphira sound like a 60 yr ol heavy smoker transgender.

Profile Avatar Brenda Nordgren May 2016

I've been stressed with not enough time to read & a lot of miles of commuting so I bought this audio version and honestly wasn't disappointed. Yes, Saffira's voice is way weird. And it was totally obvious soon into the narration that it is all the same reader, but it didn't really affect the quality of the writing, in my opinion. Would I like to listen to the second in the series with the same narrator? Not so much. Y'all can afford a few more character readers, do it, please! I've done it as a volunteer for years, hire me! :)

Profile Avatar Bryan Clough May 2016

A very good book that everyone should read or listen to.

Profile Avatar Megan Silver Jan 2016

Absolutely loved this series and the narrator was amazing!

Profile Avatar Kyle Williams Dec 2015

Great series!! I have read the inheritance cycle four times and it blows my mind every time. I can't wait for book 5

Profile Avatar Aaron carter Nov 2015

love this book! can't wait to read all the others. love the narrator in the book. the only issue I had was the dragon wasn't what I expected for her voice.

Profile Avatar Stephen Brunk Jul 2015

Eragon: Inheritance, Book 1 is a fantastic beginning to an adventure in the world of Alagaësia through the experience of a long needed new dragon rider, Eragon. Every chapter leaves you wanting more. Every character that is introduced it full of life and unique personalities. It's interesting finding out Eragon interacts with each conflict that he is thrown into in order to survive and to protect the people he cares about. If you have any interest in fantasy, this is a must read. The audio is done well, though sometimes a little awkward when the characters are yelling. But other than that it is enjoyable, I couldn't stop listening. So excited to go on to the remaining books and see how this all unfolds.

Profile Avatar Jeremy High Apr 2015

The voice for the dragon was done a little strange being a girl dragon i figured it would be a sweeter softer voice not a low gravely voice. Otherwise the book was very good

Profile Avatar John Crain Feb 2015

Loved this A everything about it was greatly done!
