Don’t miss the eagerly anticipated epic new fantasy from Christopher Paolini—Murtagh!

A new adventure hatches in Book One of the Inheritance Cycle, perfect for fans of Lord of the Rings! This New York Times bestselling series has sold over 40 million copies and is an international fantasy sensation.

'Christopher Paolini is a true rarity.' —The Washington Post

When fifteen-year-old Eragon finds a polished blue stone in the forest, he thinks it is the lucky discovery of a poor farm boy. But when the stone brings a dragon hatchling, Eragon soon realizes he has stumbled upon a legacy nearly as old as the Empire itself.

Overnight his simple life is shattered, and, gifted with only an ancient sword, a loyal dragon, and sage advice from an old storyteller, Eragon is soon swept into a dangerous tapestry of magic, glory, and power. Now his choices could save—or destroy—the Empire.

I think I may have found my new series, it's something a dragon series that just loops you in; Dragons Temeraire Series, Dragons Misfits Series and now this. Bring on the next book! Awesome narrator as well!

This has always been my favorite series, but I'd never listened to the audiobooks. Gerard Doyle did an amazing job making this book come to life and I can't wait to listen to the rest!

one of my favorite books growing up.

The book is fantastic, Gerard Doyle is also great except for his voice for Saphira. Sounds like Yoda.

Great book. Hate the way he portrayed Saphira’s voice. She’s majestic, not a retired smoker.

Great story! The movie was a flop but the book captures the imagination, however the voice used for the dragon is unbearable at first, you get used to it

I love the books (even if they're a bit childish), but Gerard Doyle completely ruins the audiobook for me. He voices Saphira as if sje were some sort pf brutish, stumpy, goblin. Its absolutely terrible and I would never recommend this over the actual book.

That is the best story I have ever listen to that I am already following up on the series right now. The narrator does an awesome job reading it too.

Amazing narration

I really enjoyed how the story is set up. the relationships among the characters are favorite. The voices the narrator gi es each character are fitting and do not change as the book develops

i greatly appreciated the narrators use of different voices for the characters although a few of them felt silly because of the differences in dialect and accent from my own

I remember reading this when I was a kid and years later I still loved it. I'm going to read the whole series now as I never got a chance to finish as a kid.

I listened to the sample and didn't hear it coming at all, but Gerard Doyle's dragon voice is simply unbearable. He does a great job with everything else, but unfortunately this one issue was significant enough to be a deal-breaker. If you can't tolerate anything more than moderate character voices, I wouldn't recommend this.

I've loved it's back since it came out. the only criticism I have, I don't like the choice the actor chose for saphira.

This is my favorite book of all time. when I was in 7th grade this book ignited my passion for reading. I've read this book over 100 times.. no joke. the audio book is great allowed me to experience it in a new light. don't watch the movie... it's trash.

The sample that they give you is a person with an American accent but then when you buy the book it's a different person with an English accent. Not that there's anything wrong with that but me being in America would prefer to hear an American accent because I'm distracted by the different words that are pronounced differently by somebody with an English accent and it distracts me from the story.

This is such an awesome series, and it has a lot of similarities to Lord of the Rings, which may bother some. But I love the characters, the story, and the ending is magic. Narrator might be the best of all (even with Yoda pretending to be Saphira.

Great book, high school nostalgia for me. Great narration, I enjoyed the voices used and that everything (even weird words) were said clearly, corrected the pronunciation I used.

Fantastic book, but good heavens Saphira sounds like the Cookie Monster. And he made Arya sound like an airhead.

The narrator's voices for some of the characters was comical at times. However it was a fantastic book and read rather well. I highly recommend it.

Profile Avatar

This is a fantastic series and the narrator gave an interesting spin on Saphira's voice that I would not have done myself.

Profile Avatar

great book, but guy made saphira sound like a 60 yr ol heavy smoker transgender.

I've been stressed with not enough time to read & a lot of miles of commuting so I bought this audio version and honestly wasn't disappointed. Yes, Saffira's voice is way weird. And it was totally obvious soon into the narration that it is all the same reader, but it didn't really affect the quality of the writing, in my opinion. Would I like to listen to the second in the series with the same narrator? Not so much. Y'all can afford a few more character readers, do it, please! I've done it as a volunteer for years, hire me! :)

Eragon: Inheritance, Book 1 is a fantastic beginning to an adventure in the world of Alagaësia through the experience of a long needed new dragon rider, Eragon. Every chapter leaves you wanting more. Every character that is introduced it full of life and unique personalities. It's interesting finding out Eragon interacts with each conflict that he is thrown into in order to survive and to protect the people he cares about. If you have any interest in fantasy, this is a must read. The audio is done well, though sometimes a little awkward when the characters are yelling. But other than that it is enjoyable, I couldn't stop listening. So excited to go on to the remaining books and see how this all unfolds.

The voice for the dragon was done a little strange being a girl dragon i figured it would be a sweeter softer voice not a low gravely voice. Otherwise the book was very good
