Unabridged Audiobook
I am a huge fan of Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones. After reading only the first book I am hooked on this fantasy world too. This series is definately LotR and GOT caliber.
Nope. the narrator doesn't engage me. I've read the books and I can't take it.
I fell in love with this series in the early 2000 after years of reading the hard copies. The audio version is fantastic to any fantasy fan out there I would recommend you listen to it.
Great book. Loved the narrators as well. Very well done.
Loving both the book and the narration. HOWEVER, there are certain chapters where the audio jumps. I re-winded it a few time to double and triple check.
This is a really good read! Of you are a fan of Lord of the Rings or if you are just a curious reader, this book is great!
This team of narrators is just awful.
Terrific book. Narrator is irritating.
AT first I did not like the narration but I admit that over time I grew to appreciate his differentiation of voices. I don't mind long epic novels and found that this met my need for a good long book. The author gives so many details in his description that you have no difficulty imagining the characters, the setting, and the conflicts taking place as well as the transformations in the main characters as the develop in the story. I started this book because Amazon id coming out with their version and I wanted to read it first before I saw it. I really did enjoy it and hope the movie version does not disappoint.
love it great story
This is by far my favorite series... ever. There writing style, story, plot, and character development are all fantastic and only get better with each book. Brandon Sanderson does a great job finishing off the series following Robert Jordan’s unfortunate death. This is a must read for anyone who has ever enjoyed any book!
It was a good book. It's just I struggled to get through it. I understand way people like this book/series. It's just, even thought it was a good book, I don't have the interest to continue with this series.
This book was a hot mess of confusion and poor story telling, with a narrator that did everything he could to make it exciting and did not. I have wanted to read this book for years and was very disappointed. I would not recommend it.
So Good!
good character building
I have really been trying to grow an interest in this book. It's not that the story is long. In fact, there have been books I've read where I wished there had been more of it because it lacked detail, character development, etc. This was part of why I chose the 30-hour book. But I have persevered through about 8 hours of listening, and VERY little has actually happened. There were a couple of chapters that gave me hope, and then it died again. I don't think I can waste more time on it. The narrator does a really good job. It might be for you if you enjoy very drawn-out fantasy. I haven't found most of the characters interesting, and the dialogue has been quite dry, in my opinion. I'm giving this 3 stars as I don't think it's poorly written and may be a matter of taste. However, if I'm not invested in any aspect of the book after that much time of listening, I dont think it's worth continuing.
I was not impressed by this book at all and after listening through Rosamund Pike's narration of The Great Hunt, I think it's wholly possible that the flat narration of this audio book is a large reason why. I have heard some fans really enjoy the fact that there are two narrator of different genders, but frankly, that's unnecessary if they are any good at voice work (and these narrators are not). Completely devoid of any engaging intonation and a weak character voices. The story itself I found frustrating--the character's a little boring and annoying--but I believe that some of this was the author's intent. I'd still recommend the book to other readers but would push for a listening of Rosamund Pike's version,
Fantastic story
great book...
One of the absolute all time best reads and universes created in literature
Waited a long time to start this series. Read a few of the books years ago. Like listening better than reading.
Perfection in every way.
The book itself is wonderful, but the narration is awful. The narrators cadence, pronunciations, and inflections all sound like a radio broadcaster circa the 40's or 50's most of the time. The updated version read by Ms.Pike is much more pleasing to the ear, and fits the books genre and pace perfectly. My advice is to go with that audio version over this one.
A mediocre fantasy that hasn’t aged well at all. It has some enjoyable parts and it’s interesting reading as it’s one of the first superstars of the fantasy genre.
I watched the prime series before listening to the books. There are a lot of differences between the two and the books are obviously much better. After I complete the collection I’ll probably go back and listen again. Very good!
that type of book that you can follow around even when not fully paying attention. its very long but lets u get lost in the story and important details get repeated in a subtitle way, so i even if i was only half listening most of the time i still enjoyed the book and would recommend it.
Great read as are all of this series
Really a great fantasy.
I love this series. Robert Jordan is my favorite author. The narration is perfection. Read this book, it is excellent.
Exciting start to a series with an anticlimactic ending. Interesting to see where they go in the next book
long and a bit repetitive. overall adventurous and a unique concept.
I really enjoyed the story idea and the adventures
The book and narration are great.
Great story and awesome narrators.
Wonderful fantastical and a great start to the Epic series.
Great book
This book feels like it has several sub-stories in it. The writing really pulls you in. A really great distraction.
Amazing series.
Book was very predictable. I did not find the characters to have much depth
I have read the entire series and it's my favorite book series of all time. The Narrators are amazing and their accents for the different characters make listening to the series more enjoyable than I expected.
great listen. I will say that the voice actings was just okay
excellent as are all the books, started reading 1984 read all books but it is different in audio
narration was spot on. story is awesome
wonderfull book, wonderfull narrator
mind-blowing
amazing book, and amazing narration
very engaging series of books and will love to see this made into a series or movies soon!!
Narration would pause at odd times, but I love the book and the series
this is my second time. love bit
Great book. I really love this series. I read it ten times. First time listening to it.
The book is great and the narrator is just AWESOME!!!
loved the book when i read it and thought the readers fir the audiobook were awesome
incredible entry way into the epic fantasy that is "The Wheel of Time".
Brings back memories of holding the book
Came to this series after finishing the storm light archive. By far my favorite narrator.
Loved it when i started reading the books in the midninties and listning to it now reminds me just how much i liked it!
I loved this book. I thought the plot was fun and I'm excited to continue reading through the series.
Great fantasy series. Excellent growing up series.
First time I’ve tried an audiobook. Really good I thought
An excellent, enjoyable and good value for money listen for those who like Lord of the Rings style fantasy.
I thought it was a solid book. Can't wait for the next one.
Even better the second time around.
A great series if you are up for the commitment. The author can meander quite a bit but the slow periods are worth the great payoffs.
This is my third attempt at getting into this series - this time via audiobook in the hope it would prove easier to push through. The overall storyline is great, epic fantasy is usually my cup of tea. However, I struggle with this series purely because there are so few likeable characters. They're shallow and predictable. The female characters are the worst of it - just very badly developed. I have been told it all improves in the later books and I just need to get to that point. It's audio I can listen to at work so I will hopefully get there and prove them right. I'd love to enjoy this series.
4.5 due to some slow spots in the middle. Overall fantastic beginning of what is sure to be an amazing series! Narrator is fantastic and draws you into the story on a deeper level.
Great series so far. The narrators are very good. Have listened to them read other books.
great book
The narrator does a great job! Love the book, and enjoyed listening to it via audiobook. There were a couple of skips here and there but not big enough to mess up the flow of the story.
Great story tellers.
Very good series to listen to!
Great book, Great listen! I've wanted to start The Wheel of Time for a while, and this was a wonderful way to begin the set.
One of my first series I ever read. Great to revisit. Unlike most others I love the female narrator, it adds a nice flavor. Thank you audiobooks!!
love it my boyfriend told me to read this series so far enjoying
Such a great read and an even better listen. I enjoyed listening to this book immensely and strongly recommend it to a fantasy book lover looking for a great series.
One of the all time greats. Loved hearing the audio book.
Great book! Looking forward to the rest!
I had added book two to my library with three hours left in this book, something I do not normally do. If I had to recommend one single fantasy book based on my personal enjoyment alone, it would be the Eye of the World. While the Male narrator creates an exciting and brilliant landscape for you, the female does leave a bit to be desired. I would give the male 5 stars and the female 3 or perhaps 4. That being said, the narration is objectively good. Do yourself a favor and listen to this riveting tale of adventure and lore. GLORY TO THE BUILDERS!
Epic tale of adventure with excellent character building and intrigue. this story got me hooked from hour one. the narrators do a great job at giving the story life and keeping all the characters vivid.
Awesome book and really good narration. I so love this series
It took me awhile to get into this one but give it a chance you and you will become addicted to a story you never intended to like in the first place.
I love this series. I read it years ago, but loved revisiting it. The narrator does a great job.
I have been meaning to read these for years; this is better for at work. lol
I really enjoyed this book and it kept me interested. It was very well written, looking forward to listening to the next one. The narrators were very good. It's great that they read the sequels! This is as good as Terry Goodkind's Sword of Truth series!
I kept waiting for something better but it never came. It was very hard to understand maybe it was just to deep for me. Different races and types of people who knows what? Never really felt that I got to know any of the characters.
Great audio book writer and narrator work together to give the listener a great story with easy imaginative scenes. Already listening to book two.
fantastic story telling and character development and I've listened to this narrator for the mistborn and stormlight series he is very entertaining and really helps you to connect with each character
Overall this isn't a bad book. It has an interesting plot and I did enjoy it. The problem was that listening to the book I kept on missing details or forgetting them from the last time I had listened so I ended up getting lost more than once. I thought the narrators did a pretty good job, they didn't blow my socks off but it was good enough to keep me interested.
I absolutely love this series. I read all of Sword of Truth and was suggested this series by a friend as a follow up. The narrator is incredible also, I didn't think I would like having a book read to me but these narrators make it very entertaining. Hoping to find an equally good series once I've finished this one.
Loving it! I have only listend a few hours and i'm hooked!
I was captivated by this series back in my early 20's and now 20 years later it's still a wonderful journey. Robert Jordan truly created a master piece
Great story and loved the narrator! A good narrator is a must and they do an incredible job. I really could feel the emotion of the characters and the story.
I recommend this book as a must read. I also must say that I am very pleased with the narrators team "Michael Kramer and Kate Reading".
I have read this entire series 15 times, first time to listen the audio version. Robert Jordan is just brillant!
The eye of the world is most definitely my favorite book. Robert Jordan paints a beautiful and intricate world with colorful characters that are very interesting. A++ rating. I will always love this book and will most likely read and listen to it over and over. It is also a wonderful story to share with friends and family.
I love these books so easy listening on the beach
Read up to book 7 and I'm not much of a reader but couldn't put it down. Now I drive a truck and can listen to it on audiobooks....absolutely love this series! Brilliantly written!
Amazing, Robert Jordan was truly one of the best of his kind.
This book is very well written, although slow in telling of the story sets up the premise for one of, if not the best series I have read to date.
