Unabridged Audiobook
I like this version by Rosamund Pike much better than the other ones. I hope she re-narrates the rest of the series too!
Rosamund Pike was awesome in her narration of The Wheel of Time. She did all the characters with different voices and it was easy to distinguish them just from her voices. I have listened to other books and they narrators were not nearly as good. I want to listen to the next book, but I know I will be disappointed with the man who narrates the rest of the series. I truly hope Rosamund Pike will do some more of this series. P.S. for people wanting to listen to this that are fans of the TV series, this story is completely different from the show. The producers of the TV show have taken great liberties changing the story from the book for TV.
Absolutely beautifully narrated. Wonderful story, and a must listen!
I’ve listened to both narrations of this book, and Rosamund Pike’s version is infinitely better than the Kramer/Reading version. Her depictions of the characters are distinct and vivid, and she reads the female characters so that they present as smart and thoughtful, as opposed to the vapid, whiny voices presented by Kramer/Reading.
As my first foray into the audio book experience, I may have already been spoiled. Rosamund Pike reads so well, varying voices and accents, it really pulls you into the story for a fantastic experience.
Love how they were able to get Rosamund Pike to be the narrator for this edition of "The Eye of The World"
Loved the book & the narration. Like that Rosamund could do all those voices.
I really enjoyed this story. Rosamund Pike's narration is incredible. All the different voices for the different characters and how she is able to portray the emotion. She's just an incredibly talented actor and story teller. Sad she isn't narrating the other books but I'm still looking forward to seeing where these character's stories go.
Read book rather than continue listening to narrator who is more suited to detective noir than this genre.
Great book. My first fantasy book read as a younger person, and have re-read a few times since.
This is a wonderful narration. I hope Rosamund Pike will narrate the rest of the series as well.
great book.
Fantastic read, fantastic narrated journey! Excited for the next audiobook in this series!
Beginning of the best series I've read
I'm thoroughly impressed with the first book! Rosamund Pike is an awesome narrator and it's unfortunate that the remaining 14 books are not narrated by her. If you are reading this do not watch the show first, it's much different. I have the next book ready to go.
The opening to one of the best Fantasy works of the 20th century. Ms. Pike’s reading is masterful, however, I have to admit that I prefer Michael Kramer, and Kate Reading’s rendition.
This version is so much better! I tried listening to the other version and it was dull and jarring. I hope Rosamund Pike does the rest
Superb book, superb narration.
This is way up there in terms of narration with a well written story.
The wheel of time is a complex story but only because there is vastness to what it has to offer. The narrater is amazing.
So freaking good. She brings everyone to life in their own way. I usually don’t like audiobooks and I was nervous because I’ve loved these books for 20 years. Rosamond Pike did not disappoint - It was perfect
Absolutely as bad as her acting, Kate Reading and Michael Kramer bring life to the characters with their duality.
A masterpiece!\r\n\r\nThis is the masterpiece that sprung the Wheel of Time into existence, the third most influential series in fantasy fiction, behind LOTR and Harry Potter.\r\n\r\nThis book alternatively gives me chills or brings tears to my eyes, it’s so good. After downloading it, I nearly spent the next 33 hours listening non-stop, until my wife was literally yelling at me that I needed to, “take those earphones out!” I couldn’t stop listening.\r\n\r\nI was gobsmacked by Rosamund Pikes narrative talents. How a 130 lbs woman can effortlessly sound like a huge warder, or three different farm boys, and then on hair change and sound like a giant ogier is incomprehensible to me. She is an A-list actor, but still. It is impressive to listen to. If you listen closely each of the main characters actually has a distinct voice— it’s subtle, but it’s done so well a vision of each character was conjured for me whenever she did the dialogue.\r\n\r\nJust amazing! I had wondered if I had grown out of this content when the Amazon TV series came out, but I think they just botched that. I could only get through about a half hour of the first show. I think the issue is their changing of plot elements, complete misreading of the tone (it’s more horror than fantasy), and poor casting. What the TV series did was take crayons to touch up a Monet, to make it more clear.\r\n\r\nYou don’t try to fix up a masterpiece, to change it with your own ill-conceived ideas and misconceptions; you present it as truthfully and accurately as you can. Or else you are assuming or claiming that you would have written this better than Robert Jordan, and that is as arrogant as it is certainly wrong.\r\n\r\nI think Jordan would be happy with this presentation of his work, as I was delighted to listen to it.
The original narrator to this series was perfect, stop trying to ruin Robert Jordan’s legacy.
