Unabridged Audiobook
Wonderful! Rob Inglis captures the beauty of the narrative of this classic work of fiction.
Loved it all over again
Narrator does an amazing job!! (Though I could do without the singing) This series, is the series I listen to most often while falling asleep... he has a calming voice until he sings lol!! But all in all very well done! One of my fave series’ on movie form and audiobook form! (Could never get into the books myself but having them read to me is PERFECT)
quite boring and I love the mov. the Hobot was good though
Great book, great narration. love this book
My favorite fictional book. Narrator was great.
the classic we all remember perfectly read
I found the book a delight to hear it kept me well entertained
Awesomeness and awesomeness and even more awesomeness
Amazing very good book
Keeps well woth the tonal shifts of Tolkein, providing whimsy and dread where appropriate.
An excellent rendition of the first LotR book. I was particularly interested in comparing the book, which I had read some time ago, to its counterpart movie. It did not disappoint and I look forward to reading the next two books.
Loved the movie so I bought the book. And it really goes into those little things. I likes it…. Will buy the next book to listen to eventually… great collection for any reader.
The book is relaxing and the narrators voice is so peaceful
I’ve read it before, but enjoyed listening. It took me a moment to get used to the narrator, but once I did I very much enjoyed him.
The book is a lot different from the move, but it a good book.
Based
Excellent story and narration.
I love this book and have read it many times. I really enjoyed the reading of this version... but have to say that I prefer the versions read by Andy Serkin. He was the voice of Gollum in the movies and he is a great storyteller. Overall, there is no way to go wrong with Tolkien!
Loved it the book just came to life!
This narrator was able to capture the essence of the story! I loved it!
My first journey into fantasy novels as a kid, and still one of the best. Tolkien has that rare gift of immersing his readers into his world and leaving them wanting more. I never tire of this series and listen to it once or twice a year.
First audio book and it was an awesome experience
Narrator makes a classic even classic-er.
The narrator’s not so bad
The narrator is wonderful
Tolkien’s world is incredibly imaginative. He can skimp on some details, particularly in battles but for those who are drawn to linguistics this is sure to please. The creation of a foreign language is quite a feat. I wish they had done a little more with the songs. They become a bit monotonous as the story progresses, often melding into the same melodic drone. I’ve read the trilogy several times and the fellowship is by far my favorite of the three. Always a good choice when I can’t decide what to listen to next or I’m waiting for my next credit to use!
Fantastic book and narration
my favorite !
I like the book. Not the narrator.
Love this book! And the narrator does a great job with the character voices. Just as much fun to listen to as it was to read!
Captivating story that will be relevant for generations to come. It never gets old no matter how many time it is read. The narrator is a perfect fit for this series. His voice is soothing and he reads very smoothly. A pleasant experience.
I love this story
Always a fascinating read, the narrator has a great talking and singing voice! Truly a prominent tale in the history of fantasy.
This was pretty awful. I realize it is a classic piece of literature. However, after seeing the movie, this is written in a way that's more like Wizard of Oz. All of the characters are watered down and childlike. It's more like a complicated children's book then than epic sweeping fantasy. The narrator singing was probably the worst part.
I have to agree with the other posters. There are too many songs and they're too long. Happily, they can be skipped. Also, it feels as if the author is reading to his kid.
over hyped too many songs. I'm not impressed by the story structure or premise.
Excellent voice narrative and character representations. Enjoy listening while driving and leisurely time at home.
So amazing for driving or working out, the narrator does a fantastic job and who doesn't love Tolkien!
The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because it's overly descriptive and the chapters are too long. Other than that it's a good story.
Wonderful! Great narration! They've done a fantastic job of bringing this classic to a new media platform and it was just as enjoyable as ever!
Love the voice. He is exceptional. He made the story come to life.
Well worth it!
Great Book and Narrator!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Very interesting great for listening to when running because you always want to know want happens next So you keep running.
This is a masterpiece o audio and is also sort of like having your grandfather read you your favorite story while you're wrapped up in a blanket. It's Lord of the Rings beautifully read, what else can I say?
Wonderful narration. I could listen to his voice all day.
Narrator was the best, classic book, I can't wait to listen to the next in the series
Great book. Fabulous narrator. You cannot go wrong with it.
Amazing!! This is the one of the best pieces of literature ever written brought to life by a truly gifted voice actor and narrator. Can't wait to listen to the next!!
the best story ever written ever read or listened too from the time I was just a kid till now still best story ever
Great read.
Rob Inglis is extremely talented. He has a voice for every character and even sings the songs in each person's voice! His rendition is imaginative and has a wonderful felicity of expression. i listened intently and with delight. Listening to this beloved series, which I have read many times, becomes fresh and new with voice of Rob Inglis.
LOTR. It's awesome. Just read it. True classic. Absolutely loved the entire series!
The book is a classic. I won't go over that here. It is a very good quality audiobook and the narrator is excellent. The only real problem I have is that there are many "songs" in the book and the narrator sings them and it is just a little annoying. I guess that's not really a problem with the narrator since he's just reading the book.
