Summary
REESE’S BOOK CLUB PICK | #1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER

“This fast-paced read has everything you could want in a thriller: secret identities, a mysterious boss and a cat & mouse game that kept me guessing the whole way through.” —Reese Witherspoon

Evie Porter has everything a nice Southern girl could want: a doting boyfriend, a house with a white picket fence, a tight group of friends. The only catch: Evie Porter doesn’t exist.

The identity comes first: Evie Porter. Once she’s given a name and location by her mysterious boss, Mr. Smith, she learns everything there is to know about the town and the people in it. Then the mark: Ryan Sumner. The last piece of the puzzle is the job.

Evie isn’t privy to Mr. Smith’s real identity, but she knows this job isn't like the others. Ryan has gotten under her skin, and she’s starting to envision a different sort of life for herself. But Evie can’t make any mistakes—especially after what happened last time.

Evie Porter must stay one step ahead of her past while making sure there's still a future in front of her. The stakes couldn't be higher—but then, Evie has always liked a challenge. . . .

It was a good read, not I would have liked a bigger twist at the end.

Very underwhelmed. Finished the book and thought… that was it? What was the hype?

Story line a little farfetched from the real world, but nice escapism. I don't think it's right to glamorize her choices of a life of deceiving people.

fun story good narration

Liked this book and loved the narrator. It kept me interested up until the end and then the end was a little disappointing. Still good, but not that great ending that needed to be an amazing book. Hope they make a movie with this story.

I don't understand all the positive revews about this book. The story was underwhelming and the characters were unlikeable. There wasn't much character development to make the plot twist interesting and/or surprising. And, were we supposed to feel sorry for the main character b/c she grew up in a trailer and her "mama" died when she was an adult? Is this supposed to justify her choice in life and make us root for her? I would have preferred if the author didn't try to gain sympathy for her and was more blunt about the terrible person she is (and if the story was more interesting).

I liked the character who was just trying to get ahead in the world but getting caught up on the wrong side of it as well. I really enjoyed it.

this was my first audio book. I enjoyed the story. The "male" voice was annoying as it's a female altering to sound like a male.
