Unabridged Audiobook
Great read. Very sad story that makes one take pause and be thankful for the life they have. Very well written. Felt like I was there with the author through her struggles.
great book
It is hard for me to wrap my head around the fact that this happened in the latter 20th century. How can the human family let such atrocities happen for so long without intervention is beyond me. The book though not a literary masterpiece is the account of one young girl's survival of Pol Pot's bloody reign backed by the Communist Khmer Rouge. She though suffered repeated horrors she was one of the "lucky" to survive. It was hard for me to get through this book as the same horrific story is repeated over and over wherever she escapes to. An important story to know to never repeat again. It also helped me better understand the plight of refugees that come to America in search of A refuge from horrors that repeat themselves all over the globe. Loung, I admire your bravery and courage to continue telling your story.
Amazing how strong good people can be and how evil bad people.
I am speechless- it is a MUST-read/listen book
Wow. What a powerful story. This is a must read.
I Really Enjoyed the book. It really makes me have gratitude for all that I have. One never knows how much you have until you lose it. My one disappointment was I believe it would have been much more captivating if the narrator’s voice matched the ethnicity of Luong. The narrator has a great voice but not for this book.
Great book
This book certainly puts things into perspective with our current COVID situation. What a tragic story, it's well worth listening to.
