Summary
When Army Special Agent John Puller finds his aunt dead in Florida, he suspects it's no accident...and as local police dismiss the case, the cracks begin to show in a picture-perfect town in this #1 New York Times bestselling thriller.

Army Special Agent John Puller is the best there is. A combat veteran, Puller is the man the U.S. Army relies on to investigate the toughest crimes facing the nation. Now he has a new case--but this time, the crime is personal: His aunt has been found dead in Paradise, Florida.

A picture-perfect town on Florida's Gulf Coast, Paradise thrives on the wealthy tourists and retirees drawn to its gorgeous weather and beaches. The local police have ruled his aunt's death an unfortunate, tragic accident. But just before she died, she mailed a letter to Puller's father, telling him that beneath its beautiful veneer, Paradise is not all it seems to be.

What Puller finds convinces him that his aunt's death was no accident...and that the palm trees and sandy beaches of Paradise may hide a conspiracy so shocking that some will go to unthinkable lengths to make sure the truth is never revealed.

I enjoyed this book. The plot unfolded quickly with lots of action. While larger than life the characters were almost believable as was the situation. And the "good guys" came out on top.

A great follow up to first John Puller book 'Zero Day'. Both narrators are very talented with many different voices to easily distinguish characters.

It was a good read but took awhile to get going. Although it finished nicely. I love the Amos Decker and Will Robie series. John Puller is just as resourceful.

Love the John Puller series from Baldacci! Puller is an unstoppable investigator with the brains and brawn to carry out his mission, no matter how difficult. “The Forgotten” gives us a chance to see Puller go after wealthy, powerful slavers, against all odds, and at extreme risk to himself, to avenge the weak and defenseless! Also, Ron McLarty and Orlagh Cassidy do a great job in narrating, bringing the book to life.

This book in the John Puller series is fast paced and exciting. The setting is well described and the narrative makes it easy to visualize. Puller doesn’t shy from going after the rich and powerful bad guys even on his leave from the Army CID. The action kept me riveted to the story. I was happy that the story had a carry-over of some of the characters from the previous book, Zero Day. The two narrators for this book are excellent. It was easy to distinguish which character was speaking in the dialogue. The discreet and sometimes not so discreet sound effects really enhanced my enjoyment of this story.

I listened to the Puller series in reverse, definitely not on purpose. All three books are clinchers and I am going back to listen to the last two again, something I never do, they are just that good.
