Summary
“I used to be a lesbian.” In Gay Girl, Good God, author Jackie Hill Perry shares her own story, offering practical tools that helped her in the process of finding wholeness. Jackie grew up fatherless and experienced gender confusion. She embraced masculinity and homosexuality with every fiber of her being. She knew that Christians had a lot to say about all of the above. But was she supposed to change herself? How was she supposed to stop loving women, when homosexuality felt more natural to her than heterosexuality ever could? At age nineteen, Jackie came face-to-face with what it meant to be made new. And not in a church, or through contact with Christians. God broke in and turned her heart toward Him right in her own bedroom in light of His gospel. Listen in order to understand. Listen in order to hope. Or listen in order, like Jackie, to be made new.

This book is NOT what you think! Dont make any assumptions about this book based on the title or its author. if your open & willing, you will be convicted, intrigued, enlightened & humbled. In all the best ways possible. No matter where you align yourself on LBGTQ matters, this book is for you. JHP’s ability to remain 100% transparent & authentic to the word of God Is truly awe inspiring. She will teach you, challenge you and point you towards the One true HOPE. Her story is everyone’s story. Maybe different caveats, struggles or temptations, but at its core, the same. How we all long to be fully known and yet full loved. Kudos, Jackie! May God bless this book and you and your family for your willingness to respond to HIS calling on your life. I know I am encouraged bc you did. Grace & Peace- Heather C.

This book is a joke. She is in such a state of denial that I honestly feel bad for her. Peope are 100% born gay. It's NOT a choice, a phase, something you can be healed or saved from, it's not something you grow out of. You are born with the attraction to the same sex. Believe me, nobody would choose to be gay. I guarantee every gay person has tried for years to make themselves be straight because that's whats more socially acceptable. And finally after trying every avenue to be straight for most of us comes the realization that we can't change who we are, not for God, not for a loved one, not even ourselves. Once we accept ourselves most embrace who we are, and come to even love that we're gay. This book is written very well, but the content I don't believe in at all, and I think of myself as a God loving gay woman who lives a very spiritual life, and I know my God created me as a gay woman and I know my God loves me. I pray that one day Ms. Jackie Perry can find that self acceptance, and finally go back to being honest with herself.

I saw a comment about how this girl is living in denial. This woman is most definitely living in full fledged reality that has had to have been a difficult journey. She is clearly filled with the Holy Spirit and Gods grace and instead of worrying about her own desires she has died to her flesh to love God. There isn’t much more beautiful than that to witness in this life. To anyone who doesn’t know God, it would seem like denial or crazy. This woman will be eternally blessed.

Wonderfully insightful and beautifully written! Though I do not know of the struggle with same sex attraction I found this book very informative not only to what others are going through but also to me it had an insert your struggle here vibe to it, very relatable in a lot of ways. I absolutely loved how Jackie put the focus on Christ and gave Him the glory. Recommending Gay Girl, Good God to everyone!

I loved her vulnerable story and the wisdom she shares about same sex attraction Christians. She also made me question a few beliefs I held that aren't biblical. I didn't love her reading style. Sometime the cadence and style was hard to follow because she read it like she was performing poetry. That's my only drawback. God bless her and her family and the mission God has placed in their hearts.

This book was absolutely great! To hear Jackie read it and tell her own story added to it even more, but her testimony was eye-opening for me as a believer who doesn’t deal with the struggle of same-sex attraction, it made me check my heart posture and actions when it comes to dealing with those who do. I should treat everyone with God’s love like I want to be treated regardless of their sexuality, nationality, etc. So this book showed just that as well as helped me to heal in the area of identity. 15/10 recommend!

Excellently written. A Very powerful story of the transforming power of God’s grace and love. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who would like a deeper understanding of the goodness of God and His grace and mercy. I walked away with a fresh perspective of how God helps us overcome and walk freely in His love.
