I made it through the first couple of discs, almost gave it up, then tried (and failed) to get through them all. The information, at times, was excellent, but got lost in the author’s annoying habit of demonstrating his arrogance by continuously making the story more about himself than anything else. A disappointing choice.

As a Christian, I recommend this book to anyone, regardless of their faith or belief. I was recommended this book as an Atheist friend believed that Hitchens was a 'brilliant thinker', but he seems to operate using a strawman thinking, bandwagon logic, the correlation/causation, and the ad hominem fallacies. He seems to hold the opinion that all free thinkers and philosophers are atheistic, which is simply not true. This is not the entirety of his book though. He has entire chapters with thought provoking comments, and challenges almost every major religion. Faith should have scrutiny and challenges. This book WILL do that. As such, I recommend almost anyone who wants to critically think about faith. This book probably won't sway your opinion on faith or atheism, one way or another. Give it a read; see for yourself.

Beautiful prose and eloquently read.

I really enjoyed this book. I’ve been a fan of Mr Hitchens for a few years now. He is an expert on the subject of religion and how it has actually done more harm than good to mankind. In this book, the examples of corruption and mistreatment perpetrated in the name of God is as old as religion itself.

Hitch is eloquent and sardonic and did the research to speak with some authority. Coupled with his own experiences he had plenty to say that is worth hearing. That it was his own voice is such a bonus. He is missed.

must read for entire world

Hitch, nails it like only he can. So there are about 1,000 documented Gods conjured up by man and most all are an atheist w respect to all but 1? You're only 1 away!! Keep going! LOL! Oddly in my opinion, 90+% of the time, we are our the religion stamped into us by our parents? Kind of begs (answers) the question. Did God make us in His image or did many men make many Gods. But hey, I must step aside at the pearly gates to let Charles Manson on in. A Priest visited him 3 min before his death and he & God are tight now. Go figure. Thoughts to ponder and this book does it like no other.

A superb dissection of the oldest con job in history.

Great book, fascinating read. Even though the narration was good, I feel It could been much better, he tends to lower his voice at times, making him hard to understand. Great work.

Although unappealing to most theists, Hitchens brings his unapologetic attacks on religions. He is highly educated in most facets of theology which makes his arguments much more substantial. Christopher Hitchens along with Richard Dawkins are the biggest voices for atheism and "anti-theism" currently in the world and both bring an enormous intellect to the table. For strong believers in of any religion this book will be repugnant and probably stir anger, so I wouldn't waste your time. However, if you have ever doubted your faith because there are so many unanswered questions, then this is a must read or listen. Also, I really enjoyed Hitchens' narration.

The information presented in the two discs I managed to slog through was excellent, but the author's voice was so incredibly annoying and just grated on my nerves so much that I had to stop listening without finishing the book! While some authors (Neil Gaiman, etc.) are fabulous readers for their books, this author should never step near another microphone! That said, the information presented is fascinating, and the book itself is very, very good. I would just recommend you read it as an actual book and skip the audio.
