What did God use to draw a radical, committed unbeliever to himself? Did God take her to an evangelistic rally? Or, since she had her doctorate in literature, did he use something in print? No, God used an invitation to dinner in a modest home, from a humble couple who lived out the gospel daily, simply, and authentically. With this story of her conversion as a backdrop, Rosaria Butterfield invites us into her home to show us how God can use this same “radical, ordinary hospitality” to bring the gospel to our lost friends and neighbors. Such hospitality sees our homes as not our own, but as God's tools for the furtherance of his kingdom as we welcome those who look, think, believe, and act differently from us into our everyday, sometimes messy lives-helping them see what true Christian faith really looks like.

This is a beautiful book. I highly recommend to those who want to walk the walk. You can feel the love for Jesus oozing through the narration.

Navigating this new world has had many distressing moments. In a few years all that we once held as right and wrong has been scrambled. My knee jerk reaction as a Christian has often been to jump into self righteous mode and wrap my kids in bubble wrap. This book has majorly changed my day to day doings and interactions with non-Christians. No more withdrawing and locking my front door. Praise God that he is still actively changing lives.

I could say so many things about this book, but I'll be brief. Above all, the Lord used this book to transform the way I think about and love others. It is a book about building relationships in order to love people, to be like Jesus, and to advance the gospel. I initially assumed it was a how-to book, but it is not. How you apply this book is up to you. Finally, Rosaria has a strong voice. I didn't agree with everything she said but that is true about most books I read :)
