Summary
It's wintertime at Greenglass House. The creaky smuggler's inn is always quiet during this season, and twelve-year-old Milo, the innkeepers' adopted son, plans to spend his holidays relaxing. But on the first icy night of vacation, out of nowhere, the guest bell rings. Then rings again. And again. Soon Milo's home is bursting with odd, secretive guests, each one bearing a strange story that is somehow connected to the rambling old house. As objects go missing and tempers flare, Milo and Meddy, the cook's daughter, must decipher clues and untangle the web of deepening mysteries to discover the truth about Greenglass House-and themselves. Longlisted for the 2014 National Book Award for Young People's Literature

An adventurous story beautifully descriptive which created vivid images in the reader’s mind. The perfect mix of mystery, suspense, intrigue and well I will call it a hidden gem in the plot so as not to ruin it for others. I loved the note from the author at the end.

It is a happy but sad story which opens my heart. The narrator spoke clearly so I could understand it.

Good modern novel for Junior High students up to Young Adult… and teachers of all ages who just love literature. My only quibble: the author makes up some bizarre, awful-sounding names in here. Not sure why, but it irked me. Narration was good enough.

Beautifully descriptive tale that deserves it’s ratings and great reviews but... the narrator is absolutely horrendous he had no emotion and exclamation.
