Summary
The second in Terry Pratchett's beloved Discworld novels starring the young witch Tiffany Aching.

Tiffany Aching is ready to begin her apprenticeship in magic. She expects spells and magic—not chores and ill-tempered nanny goats! Surely there must be more to witchcraft than this.

What Tiffany doesn't know is that an insidious, disembodied creature is pursuing her. This time, neither Mistress Weatherwax (the greatest witch in the world) nor the fierce, six-inch-high Wee Free Men can protect her. In the end, it will take all of Tiffany's inner strength to save herself . . . if it can be done at all.

'A Hat Full of Sky continues Terry Pratchett’s brilliant look into the world of a young witch: this time, with more angst.' (Fantasy Book Review)

Terry Pratchett’s Discworld novels are wonderfully imaginative, and Stephen Briggs brings life to the characters with his vocalization.

Terry Pratchett is a talented author......this book was quite amusing.

This was OK. Could have been better. As it seems the norm in our day, there were almost no male characters. A stupid wizard, and old man unable to care for him self, and a bunch of pixie men who lived to get drunk and fight. That's the scope of men in this story. It's all about woman and girls. And they don't need men. Not that this is bad, but it's rather fake. Probably the reason it isn't a great book. My guess is the author has a deep resentment of a mans strength and abilities. Oh, and the Hiver, although it's a evil demon, the voice is male. After all, witches are good and men are stupid or bad

I dont remember renting this book, so when it came we had no expectations. We were a bit bored at first, but then the little "fairy" characters were so funny that my kids revised their rating for this book. In the end they liked it, but elected not to rent the other books in the series...so they didnt love it.

I was hopeful for a book about current social norms. However, I think this book was meant for a younger crowd, perhaps 18 to 24ish. The gratuitous swearing, the oversimplified analysis, wasn't too impressive. But it might be useful for someone trying to figure out why their college relationships keep failing...

It's fun, funny, enchanting, and has great insights into life and people, all at the same time. I kept thinking that this might be the sort of thing that would have been written if J.K. Rowling and Douglas Adams had done the Harry Potter stories together (and I mean that as a compliment all around).

It's LOL funny, but also simple and humble. What else can I say.

Another quirky work from Terry Pratchett. Second in the Tiffany Aching series. My son is a big Tiffany Aching fan, so I rented this for him - but I listened to it too! This book follows Tiffany and her merry band of Nac Mac Feegle on another quest. The narrator is excellent - my son still walks around the house imitating the Feegle's accent. A good, light-hearted, fun, laugh-out-loud listen.

I laugh out loud at some parts; I am struck and must spend a moment in reflection on what Pratchett has to say in others. I highly recommend this and other books by Terry Pratchett to those who enjoy a truly original and off beat fantasy writer whose wacky world oddly and often accurately reflects our own.

Terry Pratchett doing a great job entertaining - not a disc world book - but excellent. If you've not read Pratchett before, try this one. Narrator is wonderful to listen to. Loved it.

This was the only audiobook I've returned unfinished. Pratchett is funny, but I was disappointed with the writing itself. The plot was weak and I wasn't sure if the book was written for adults, or perhaps young teens, who might more fully appreciate the gimicky use of fantasy as genre. The reader is quite good, but I struggled to understand what I think was the Scottish accent of the "Mac Nacs."

Pratchett's plots are unpredictable, his imaginary world weirdly parallels our own and his characters are poignantly human despite being straight out of fairy.. He writes with a deftly wicked sense of humor. I always look forward to the next chapter and always finish each book with a real sense of regret. "Hat Full of Sky" is no exception and I unreservedly recommend it to any lover of imaginative fantasy.

Whether you're a Terry Pratchett fan or not, this is a delightful experience. The narrator adds such charm to the characters and story, enhancing the excellent writing talents of Pratchett. Just hearing him say "crivens" in the voice of the Nac Mac Feegles is worth the rental. This is a must-listen-to, as far as I'm concerned!
