“HEX is creepy and gripping and original, sure to be one of the top horror novels of 2016.” —George R.R. Martin

The English language debut of the bestselling Dutch novel, Hex, from Thomas Olde Heuvelt--a Hugo and World Fantasy award nominated talent to watch

Whoever is born here, is doomed to stay 'til death. Whoever settles, never leaves.

Welcome to Black Spring, the seemingly picturesque Hudson Valley town haunted by the Black Rock Witch, a seventeenth century woman whose eyes and mouth are sewn shut. Muzzled, she walks the streets and enters homes at will. She stands next to children's bed for nights on end. Everybody knows that her eyes may never be opened or the consequences will be too terrible to bear.

The elders of Black Spring have virtually quarantined the town by using high-tech surveillance to prevent their curse from spreading. Frustrated with being kept in lockdown, the town's teenagers decide to break their strict regulations and go viral with the haunting. But, in so doing, they send the town spiraling into dark, medieval practices of the distant past.

This chilling audiobook heralds the arrival of an exciting new voice in mainstream horror and dark fantasy.

This book was not worth my time. It did have some gruesome concepts and macabre imagery at times but the overall contest was lacking and not even a bit scary.

Story was honestly just so so. A prime example of never judge a book by its cover. The narrator made what was just an ok book to begin with almost unlistenable.

Probably one of my favorite books of all time. I listened to it months ago and still can't get it off my mind. I search for a new book by this author every time i log in to audiobooks.com. It's such a great story and the narrator is wonderful as well. I can't find any book like it I hope he writes more soon.

The book is great. The narrator takes some getting used to. I found myself laughing several times at the narrators attempt at female voices.

The narrator sounded like Casey Kasem on drugs, it was very distracting!! The book itself wasn't all that bad, a bit melodramatic and repetitive at times. It took me over five months to finish it, because of the narrator alone. If you like very slow, unsuspenseful book this is for you. If you are like me and want fast paced, edge of your seat books, then this is not for you.

The narration was fine, and the concept is very interesting. The first half of the book held my attention because I wanted to see how the town dealt with this unique issue, but eventually it got old. The second half of the book felt like just a list of things that happen to get you to the end of the story. The characters could be more interesting and the plot could be a little more interesting. I don't recall being surprised by anything that happened or impressed with any of the characters. It's a shame, because the concept is great and the setting was done very well.

The author is too detailed. This book is written very poorly. The narrator's voice is very annoying.

interesting and creepy, while no down right scary. The narrator's tone started out light, and then grew more ominous as the story progressed. great autumn read to get in the mood for halloween

This gripped me from start to finish. A wonderful dark adult cautionary tale, creepy and beautifully written. Utterly absorbing.
