Summary
NATIONAL BESTSELLER • An up-close portrait of the mind of an addict and a life unraveled by narcotics—a memoir of captivating urgency and surprising humor that puts a human face on the opioid crisis.

“Raw, brutal, and shocking. Move over, Orange Is the New Black.”—Amy Dresner, author of My Fair Junkie

When word got out that Tiffany Jenkins was withdrawing from opiates on the floor of a jail cell, people in her town were shocked. Not because of the twenty felonies she’d committed, or the nature of her crimes, or even that she’d been captain of the high school cheerleading squad just a few years earlier, but because her boyfriend was a Deputy Sherriff, and his friends—their friends—were the ones who’d arrested her.

A raw and twisty page-turning memoir that reads like fiction, High Achiever spans Tiffany’s life as an active opioid addict, her 120 days in a Florida jail where every officer despised what she’d done to their brother in blue, and her eventual recovery. With heart-racing urgency and unflinching honesty, Jenkins takes you inside the grips of addiction and the desperate decisions it breeds. She is a born storyteller who lived an incredible story, from blackmail by an ex-boyfriend to a soul-shattering deal with a drug dealer, and her telling brims with suspense and unexpected wit. But the true surprise is her path to recovery. Tiffany breaks through the stigma and silence to offer hope and inspiration to anyone battling the disease—whether it’s a loved one or themselves.

This is the best book I have ever heard/read in my life. Maybe it is because I'm also a recovering addict and can relate, but I don't think that is the only reason I'm so in love with this book. I've been watching Tiffany on fb for a few year's and knew she had struggled with addiction in her past but I had no idea what her real story was and how insane her life actaully was. It's an amazing story and the way she tells it is as I'd your there with her when it happening. I'm so happy and proud of her for the person she is and what she is doing with her life and I dont even personally know her! Best Book Ever!!

Very interesting and well-written. Author is a gifted writer! The only reason for minus one star is the continuous "F" bombs (and other cursing) all the way to the very end. At first, I assumed the bad language was necessary in order to accurately represent the author's state of mind during the events but it never really slowed down. I love to recommend books that I highly enjoy to others but the language in this one is too pervasive for my friends who are turned off by the poor choice of words. However, readers who do not mind constant expletives should definitely read this book. I have a much deeper understanding of the thought process addiction creates. The author's life as recorded in this book played out like a movie! I could not stop listening to it! Tiffany is so transparent and honest about her inner thoughts and emotions, I feel like I bonded with her and that she is now my friend. :) Now that I've finished the book, I miss her. lol

Saw raw and true. One of the best books I’ve ever read. I’m currently listening again. Her own voice being used is even better.

Simply fabulous book and a reminded in my line of work that the story you’re hearing may not always be what’s going on. Great, great book!

This is an awesome book depicting the tragedy of addiction and how it can change a person. For me, someone who’s never been to jail or taken drugs, it was a great description of what it was like for the author. Such a brave woman to lay her story out for all to hear. I LOVE that she tells the story!

The power of addiction is perfectly painted in this book. It painted a clear picture of the inner struggle and the guilt and shame that addicts have. I believe that this is good for anyone who has a loved one with addiction.

I’ve listened to lots of audiobooks. Some are okay; some too boring; some can’t listen to the narrator. This one is read by the author. I felt like she was telling me her story and it was raw, honest, sad, and funny. Seriously one of the best. Go for it!!

This book is the reason I was finally able to share my addiction with the goal of helping others. Tiffany gave me so much strength and hope after putting her story out there for the world to see and judge! If you or someone you know is suffering with an addiction, give them the gift of this book!

I have read this book 3 times in 3 years. Tiffany is an amazing person to say the lease. Although I highly recommend this book I also suggest anybody that is in early recovery to proceed with caution as her story is very real, raw and would be extremely triggering to someone in early stages of recovery. I can not wait for her to release her second book!

The author is a great story teller and narrator. Even if your not familiar with addiction it gives incite to the struggles and the mindset of active addiction and the daily fight to stay sober. I appreciate her being so candid and I appreciate her story so much. I was introduced to her through seeing her skits on. FB. She is really funny and shares her struggles with anxiety and depression. I am so happy for her success in staying sober and sharing her story. I hope she writes another book. I enjoy her very much and I wish her the best!

Incredible!!! As the book cover says! Just incredible!! I'm also a recovering addict and our stories are similar but different! Tiffany you are so brave to be so honest! I'm not sure if I could do the same! I used to say back when I was using I could write one helluva book! I truely enjoyed your book and that's huge for me to say cause I'm totally not a book person! I'll be passing the word along in my meetings because if I enjoyed it I know all my recovering friends will as well! It would be incredible to see your story as a movie! Highly recommend!!!

this book touched my heart and soul and helped me realize that I wasn't this big POS that I thought I was dieing my addiction. not because I'm better than her but because we can go through and do these awful things and come out the other side, braver, better. thank you tiffany for sharing your story.

This book has been helpful for me to understand what my niece went through and also to help me be able to talk to her about her struggles without being judgemental, which has been difficult from the beginning with her. I was able to take some of the lessons and use them in my own life with an addict. I am glad Tiffany is able to share those difficulties and victories in her life!

currently struggling with recovering from my own addictions, I laughed, cried, and felt every emotional part of your journey right along with you through this story ... it gave me hope and has encouraged me to keep walking...and it is worth it. next month I will be one year sober. you're an amazing human and without you and your story, I probably wouldn't have the courage to keep going. thank you!

This is a brutally honest account of the insanity that is addiction. In my opinion, any reader who is in recovery or in the grips of active addiction will be jolted into the reminder of where drug addiction can take everybody - jail, institutions and death. The author does not hold back. A lot of comments here are negative of her use of the F bomb, but what is more important? This book could really help a person struggling with this very real disease. Don’t be put off by her swearing. Be inspired.
