A NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER

“Grabs you on the first page and doesn’t let go until you reach the end.” —Laura Dave, New York Times bestselling author of The Last Thing He Told Me

A husband’s disappearance links two couples in this twisty thriller from the New York Times bestselling author of Local Woman Missing, Mary Kubica

Jake Hayes is missing. This much is certain. At first, his wife, Nina, thinks he is blowing off steam at a friend’s house after their heated fight the night before. But then a day goes by. Two days. Five. And Jake is still nowhere to be found.

Lily Scott, Nina’s friend and coworker, thinks she may have been the last to see Jake before he went missing. After Lily confesses everything to her husband, Christian, the two decide that nobody can find out what happened leading up to Jake’s disappearance, especially not Nina. But Nina is out there looking for her husband, and she won’t stop until the truth is discovered.

"Rich with detail and a mounting, almost suffocating sense of dread, Just the Nicest Couple is a dark and twisted exploration of loyalty, family, and how far we’ll go to protect the ones we love." —Andrea Bartz, New York Times bestselling author of We Were Never Here

Should have had a female narrator for Lily. The over-enunciated "Jake" name got on my nerves. Good story though.

I really wanted to like this more. Overall it was a good suspenseful story but the writing was sometimes just super repetitive and just made me want to fast forward at times. I also did not like the male narrator for this. The female narrator was great but the male was just so wimpy, especially while reading for female characters- just so whiny and slightly annoying. I probably would’ve preferred the actual book vs the audio.

Too much detail. Too much talk about feelings. It was actually actually cringey. Disappointed.

I really enjoyed the story! Great twists at the end. I wasn’t always overly fond of the narrators…They were good, but I couldn’t get used to the male narrator doing one of the female character’s voices…and the female narrator over-enunciated on several sounds (the name “Jake” started to annoy me because of this). But, overall I enjoyed this audiobook. I’d still recommend it to others. I’m a fan of this author and normally read her books. I’d listen to an audiobook again in the future.

this was an awesome book, very well written. both narrators did a great job.

The narration was a little too somber. The book repeated extraneous information that belabored the length on the read. The ending was a little odd because of how certain things weren’t really tied up too well. In a way it was anticlimactic.

This book was interesting and the ending was unexpected and satisfying. But the storytelling is slow. Often too slow. And at times it is overinformative. There were honestly a couple of times when I almost gave up on the book because the author was just dancing around a reveal unnecessarily and belaboring the buildup. But I'll also admit that I changed my personal schedule just so I could listen to the last hour uninterrupted.

Was disappointed. I felt like it was drawn out, predictable and the characters were hollow and acted stupidly. The story wasn’t deep nor were the characters. I had hoped for much more.

The over enunciation of every word from the female narrator was annoying. Great book! Great characters!

Good listen. Caught me right from the beginning, with twists and a great ending. Was a bit repetitive in the middle, but still a good story. Narration was great.

Incredible. I am a psychological thriller fanatic and absolutely could not stop listening to this book. I became a huge fan of the author after listening to Local Woman Missing, and could not wait for this release. The performance was flawless, it captured my attention right from the beginning.

I enjoyed the book even though I figured out the mystery mid-way through the book.

Narrators were excellent. Story held me from beginning to end.

Several interesting plot twists but the eventual culprit was telegraphed halfway into the book. I was hoping for more. Also felt the profanity – while mostly appropriate to the tense circumstances – was gratuitous and unnecessary at other times.

This book was a great listen- the narrarators were fantastic, and the story itself was simple, but intriguing. A nice mystery, easy to listen to, and a good ending!
