Summary
From the bestselling team of Bill O'Reilly and Martin Dugard comes Killing Reagan, a page-turning epic account of the career of President Ronald Reagan that tells the vivid story of his rise to power--and the forces of evil that conspired to bring him down.

The basis for the 2016 television movie available on streaming.

Just two months into his presidency, Ronald Reagan lay near death after a gunman's bullet came within inches of his heart. His recovery was nothing short of remarkable -- or so it seemed. But Reagan was grievously injured, forcing him to encounter a challenge that few men ever face. Could he silently overcome his traumatic experience while at the same time carrying out the duties of the most powerful man in the world?

Told in the same riveting fashion as Killing Lincoln, Killing Kennedy, Killing Jesus, and Killing Patton, Killing Reagan reaches back to the golden days of Hollywood, where Reagan found both fame and heartbreak, up through the years in the California governor's mansion, and finally to the White House, where he presided over boom years and the fall of the Iron Curtain. But it was John Hinckley Jr.'s attack on him that precipitated President Reagan's most heroic actions. In Killing Reagan, O'Reilly and Dugard take readers behind the scenes, creating an unforgettable portrait of a great man operating in violent times.

I consider myself a disciple of Ronald Reagan. I have read 11 books about him and a few by him. This audio was insightful and sad. As a kid, President Reagan was larger than life to me. As a middle aged man listening to this book, I realize he was just as mortal as I. GREAT PRESIDENT and REPUBLICAN! Long live the memory of Rawhide!

This was a great book. It was insightful, balanced and informative. I learned some new things (both good and bad) about President Reagan. This book paints him as a real live normal flawed human being. Well worth the listen and education.

Bill O'Reilly hit the jackpot with this telling of the slow demise of President Ronald Reagan. Masterfully written and read. This was my first "killing" book by Mr. O'Reilly It certainly won't be my last. Superb.

Great book. It was like reliving a part of my life and understanding, for the first time, why and how it happened. Loved it!

I thought this new narrator is an improvement over O'Reilly himself reading the book. I do question some of the research.

Great. This could have been a book about Nancy Reagan. Loved everything about the story. It did make Ronny appear senile or dumb at times though

Initially, a bit bummed it wasn't read by Bill O'Reilly. I did not think to check since he has read several of his earlier books. A bit long with some irrelevant info but still a good listen.

Great audio book. I love all the inside information that Oreilly and Dugard seem to find on all of these Killing books

Very motivating! i enjoyed this tremendously - Reagan fan or not, I think readers will enjoy the authors' perspective on why Reagan was the man he was and why he wasn't your typical president. Well done!

I love reading about Reagan - he was the first President I voted for when I turned 18. I loved hearing how well he did again in his debates, especially against Mondale when the age question arose. Great narration, but could've been better when he tried to sound like some of the characters. If you loved the Reagan Presidency like I did, you'll like this book, too. With that said, be aware that this book shows a side of Reagan that takes away from the deification that some would ascribe to him. He was the "Great Communicator," but this book illustrates that he was, indeed, just a mortal man. We all have the capability to show a circumspect facade on the outside while leading a wholly different, dark side. Reagan was no different, but God changed him after the assassination attempt and the world is a better place as a result.

Excellent, but remember it's historical fiction with resources from newspaper articles

Very well written and the reader was excellent. It shows the determination of a great president. Also the background of how much influence that Nancy Reagan had on his rise to power.

This is a very interesting book. It's amazing the parallels from the 70's - 80's and today. The Republican establishment and media didn't want a conservative president anymore then than today.
