Summary
Narnia . . . a land frozen in eternal winter . . . a country waiting to be set free

Witness the creation of a magical land in The Magician's Nephew, the first title in C. S. Lewis's classic fantasy series, which has captivated readers of all ages for over sixty years.

On a daring quest to save a life, two friends are hurled into another world, where an evil sorceress seeks to enslave them. But then the lion Aslan's song weaves itself into the fabric of a new land, a land that will be known as Narnia. And in Narnia, all things are possible.

This is a stand-alone novel, but if you want to journey back to Narnia, read The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, the second book in The Chronicles of Narnia.

excellent narration I personally *did* have a grandfather who was a child in the late 19th century, "when Sherlock Holmes lived in Baker St," but the rest of the tale seems to have aged more gracefully than the introduction to the era in which this story is set. I have no opinion about what order to read the chronicles in, but as a child, I had difficulty working out that this story is set about 40 years before World War 2.

Loved it. I love all of the CS Lewis books. Listened to it while my young son read along with his hard copy. Great way to get kids to read along!

The creation of a world. The beginning of the epic battle of good vs evil. Technically this book should be read FIRST, but it usually is not. The concepts in this book has made it one of my all time favorites. I actually disliked it as a kid, but after rereading it as an adult, I was so impressed that this story could come out of another human’s mind, I could not stop listening. To get a real old school feel for the Chronicles, the BBC made a series back in the 80s-90s that was horrible technically but fairly “English” in its interpretation and a fun watch. Lewis never disappoints

Very well done, a magical literary experience! The narration is done in just the right dramatic style as to not be to overdone. I'm suggesting this app to all my friends in education.

I love this book! Very well written. All the Chronicles of Narnia I have read or listened to on audiobooks over and over. I never get tired of them. This book is very interesting telling how Narnia first started. The narrator is excellent. He brings all the characters to life. I highly recommend all the Narnian books. It is a very nice way to escape for awhile and visit Narnia!
