NOW UPDATED WITH A NEW CHAPTER

In his first and only official autobiography, music icon Elton John reveals the truth about his extraordinary life, from his rollercoaster lifestyle as shown in the film Rocketman, to becoming a living legend.

Christened Reginald Dwight, he was a shy boy with Buddy Holly glasses who grew up in the London suburb of Pinner and dreamed of becoming a pop star. By the age of twenty-three he was performing his first gig in America, facing an astonished audience in his bright yellow dungarees, a star-spangled T-shirt, and boots with wings. Elton John had arrived and the music world would never be the same again.

His life has been full of drama, from the early rejection of his work with song-writing partner Bernie Taupin to spinning out of control as a chart-topping superstar; from half-heartedly trying to drown himself in his LA swimming pool to disco-dancing with Princess Diana and Queen Elizabeth; from friendships with John Lennon, Freddie Mercury, and George Michael to setting up his AIDS Foundation to conquering Broadway with Aida, The Lion King, and Billy Elliot the Musical. All the while Elton was hiding a drug addiction that would grip him for over a decade.

In Me, Elton also writes powerfully about getting clean and changing his life, about finding love with David Furnish and becoming a father. In a voice that is warm, humble, and open, this is Elton on his music and his relationships, his passions and his mistakes. This is a story that will stay with you by a living legend.

Elton John is insightful concerning his entire life , good, bad & ugly. This is a great listen. Elton's not afraid to be critical of himself nor afraid to laugh @ himself. His antics are entertaining , he is a thoughtful , kind person.

Loved listening to every bit of it. Taron Egerton is an excellent narrator. It is over 11 hrs long but I was bummed when it ended. It let you really see Elton John as a person not just a famous entertainer. He has an excellent grasp of good and bad qualities as a person. Great Listen!!!!

I absolutely enjoyed the entire audio and book. So looking forward to listening and rereading it over and over again. His biography is extremely raw, honest, heartfelt and a great reference text. I'm embracing to see what happens next.   EJ, first, enjoy your family and children the years go by too quickly. It is 35th wedding anniversary seeing you in Philly and your book and audio was the perfect tailgate to your concert tonight. Stay well. Julie P, NJ

I was doubtful I would like this book but I did. Elton gave an honest account. I especially liked Taron Egerton's reading. His voice is delightful and he was funny as well. I hope Elton and David have many years ahead with their sons.

Elton John’s official autobiography of his life is a very truthful, touching, funny at times and insightful book about his personal life in and out of the spotlight and it was made even more so by the delightfully engaging and beautifully read narration by actor Taron Egerton. Definitely worth a listen (or two)!

If you are an Elton John fan, this book will most definitely resonate with you. I knew he lived an eccentric life and struggled with substance abuse, but hearing about it all from his own perspective was just unbelievable. Taron Egerton's narration is absolutely perfect....there were times I would've sworn I was listening to a young EJ. I LOVED this book!

Fantastic book and Egerton is always a treat to listen to. Elton John discusses everything from his lowest points to his highest points. He is great at mixing in amusing stories and of course a few shocking ones. I often listen to this as I head to bed. While the stories can be high energy and thrilling, the reading by Egerton is relatively relaxed and perfect.

Great book! Insight into his personal, business, financial life, and music influences. It does talk about his addictions though so skip this book if you aren’t ok with that. Great narrators.

I loved it! Great stories of his life. The honesty and humor is wonderful. And the narration by both “young and older” Elton was terrific. Just like having someone in the room telling a story. I’ve been a fan since I was a little kid and this was just a fantastic book.
