Summary
Medium Raw marks the return of the inimitable Anthony Bourdain, author of the blockbuster bestseller Kitchen Confidential and three-time Emmy Award-nominated host of No Reservations on TV’s Travel Channel. Bourdain calls his book, “A Bloody Valentine to the World of Food and the People Who Cook,” and he is at his entertaining best as he takes aim at some of the biggest names in the foodie world, including David Chang, Alice Waters, the Top Chef winners and losers, and many more. If Hunter S. Thompson had written a book about the restaurant business, it could have been Medium Raw.

I miss A.B. very much. I spent about the same amount of time in the industry as he did and many of his stories are so very similar to my experiences. Still heartbroken over losing him.

Another instant classic from Tony!! If you have listened to Kitchen Confidential then you will love this one as well! Miss this guy big time, but really happy to hear his voice again. Highly recommend you give this a listen because it goes very in depth about food and scenarios of his life in travels.

I enjoyed the book. Anthony Bourdain had a style of writing and description of food and cooking like none I’ve ever read; his is a ranting style kind of writing; however, along with his richly decorative descriptions are an over usage of the “f” work, as well as, using stories about specifically named chefs and writers, and critics. He calls out restaurant critics, chefs, and the associate restaurants they are associated with.Overall, he tells many stories of eating and drinking. It is a fabulous behind the scenes look at fine dining.

Great follow up to kitchen confidential. Narrated by the man himself, his tone and inflection really puts to heart his stories and follies.
