Summary
From #1 New York Times bestselling author Brandon Sanderson, the Mistborn series is a heist story of political intrigue and magical, martial-arts action.

For a thousand years the ash fell and no flowers bloomed. For a thousand years the Skaa slaved in misery and lived in fear. For a thousand years the Lord Ruler, the 'Sliver of Infinity,' reigned with absolute power and ultimate terror, divinely invincible. Then, when hope was so long lost that not even its memory remained, a terribly scarred, heart-broken half-Skaa rediscovered it in the depths of the Lord Ruler's most hellish prison. Kelsier 'snapped' and found in himself the powers of a Mistborn. A brilliant thief and natural leader, he turned his talents to the ultimate caper, with the Lord Ruler himself as the mark.

Kelsier recruited the underworld's elite, the smartest and most trustworthy allomancers, each of whom shares one of his many powers, and all of whom relish a high-stakes challenge. Only then does he reveal his ultimate dream, not just the greatest heist in history, but the downfall of the divine despot.

But even with the best criminal crew ever assembled, Kel's plan looks more like the ultimate long shot, until luck brings a ragged girl named Vin into his life. Like him, she's a half-Skaa orphan, but she's lived a much harsher life. Vin has learned to expect betrayal from everyone she meets, and gotten it. She will have to learn to trust, if Kel is to help her master powers of which she never dreamed.

This saga dares to ask a simple question: What if the hero of prophecy fails?

I'm not really a fan of the "girl" voice the narrator used but it was good overall.

Entertaining to say the least. I started this work and couldn't put it down. It was so intriguing that the last three hours of listening I did when I should've been asleep. The ending both tragic and satisfying, still left me with a need to see what happens next. I highly recommend this book but be aware that you wont be able to stop at the end...And Mr. Kramer does an excellent narration

I can see why people like Sanderson so much. Even though the book is fairly long and you really get to know the characters well, it’s got great momentum, pacing, and sense of progress. Nothing is static. One of the two main characters is always taking steps to accomplish something that feeds into the larger plot. The main characters’ motivations are both clear and believable without being overly simple. There are also some great twists and revelations at the end that are unexpected without feeling out of place.

Solid characters and fun, interesting story. Maybe a little predictable and not super artfully written. But as pure entertainment, a thoroughly enjoyable listen.

At first Iwhat is apprehensive I wasn't sure how the book would be I wasn't sure about the narrator if I would like his voice but as I went on and the different characters came out with a narrator it was absolutely fantastic I've got the second book in the series and I've started it now and I will totally recommend this book for anyone who enjoys fantasy in any way shape or form.

The author is remarkable with his books not just this series. He has great vision with his imagination. I've also listened to the storm light series waiting on its next book to come out. The narrator not only reads the books but brings the characters to life in my mind and he expresses their individuality as such, hes an outstanding narrator.

The book is excellent. Thank you Audio Books for Elysium for free and getting me hooked on Sanderson! I’m torn about the narrator. He does great character voices but when he’s actually narrating it may as well be Ben Stein he’s so monotone. The intense action moments sound like a dry eyes commercial. Yet he nails character voices- leading me to believe its a choice. A bizarre choice. Still 100% worth the listen!

The narrator is incredible with all of the different voices he is able to do with a smooth transition between all the conversations. Hes truly an amazing Narrator and so is his wife! :) (They do the wheel of Time series together. )Mistborn is an incredible book. So well written and the world it brings you into is so amazing. I have read this book several times already. Brandon Sandersons work is just breathtaking and unlike anything else I've ever read. It's hard to read anything else when his writing is so wonderful. I've been spoiled <3

I've read this book a dozen times or more as Sanderson is my favorite author. I got the audiobook to listen to at work. The narrator is very monotone, and mispronounces the names of many places and people. If you're not familiar with the book, it won't matter much, but to fans of Sanderson, it's quite irritating. I seriously hope they didn't use this narrator for the Stormlight Archive series.

Truly entertaining. The author does a terrific job setting scenes, increasing intensities through appropriate build ups and having the end a very exciting final scene, however, leaving so much room for the plot to continue. Exceptional narrating.

I really enjoyed this book. In a genre where authors often get bogged down in the minutia of their worlds and forget to actually tell the narrative, this story was gripping. There was intrigue, action, horror, and romance, and all of it made for a world that I believed in with characters and a story that mattered. The narrator was excellent and really exemplified the tone of the book. For anyone remotely interested in fantasy, I would highly recommend this work.

It starts off slow. The inserts that do not apply to the story until later are distracting as a new listener to Brandon's writing style. With that said, I find the characters to be authentic, and have depth. The world to be fantastic; easy to understand, and well thought out. Once the story gets going it is easy to get drawn into and hard to stop. Full of twists and surprises. I love it. As for the narrator, I feel mostly good, it is hard to hear other books by this same narrator.

I bought the book for my son at his request, but he couldn't get past the narration. He said the person sounded too depressed to listen to.

Michael Kramer is once again just an amazing narrator! He can take a so poorly written by Brandon Sanderson and bring it to life. Now for Brandon Sanderson! This book is everything I have learned to dislike about his writing, strong male characters that he either kills off or completely demasculines them. I am a huge fan of the WOT series and unfortunately he turned the characters in to jokes, so bad it was hard to read the last three books. In this book like the Jordan series, He took the male hero characters and made them secondary. it's a crime that a GREAT AMERiCAN ( Robert Jordan) spent 17 years of his life developing characters. Only to have BS tear them down to a joke. I really enjoy the Stormlight Archives but am afraid he is going to make the male characters into unichs like he has with every other male characters he has written about. Hey Bramdon GROW A PAIR!

absolutely amazing. worth every penny. I would love to see an anime made of this. That's often how I pictured it. But that's besides the point. This book is truly amazing. One of the few books I wish I could forget so I could read it again and experience the emotions like never before.

When I read the last wheel of time book, I became a fan of Sanderson.. I didn't think anything could top the series, then I found the stormlight archives, incredible. Now waiting for book three, I've found I have to finish this series! Also, Michael Kramer is an incredible narrator.

I absolutely love this book/series... I am actually having a really hard time finding anything else that can keep my attention now, because nothing I've found has been as well written and engaging. The story really pulls you in (I found myself taking 10 minute breaks to go out to my car and listen to even a few minutes at a time during my workday! lol... like an addiction!!) I also have had a hard time listening to other narrators... their voices are so "high pitched" and "immature" in comparison - the narrator is so soothing... listening to this series has become like wrapping myself in a warm familiar blanket... i'm on my third time through and will definitely listen to it again... and again, and again.
