Unabridged Audiobook
Story: 4 Stars! Narrator Aiden Snow: 5 Stars! When you risk your safety day in and day out on the streets of Atlanta, having a partner you trust with your life is crucial. Luckily, from the very first moment they met, Detective Cash "God" Godfrey and Detective Leo Day knew they were meant to be partners. God is fierce, big and scary. A tattooed giant that most people avoid at all costs. Day is the cocky, funny, out and proud gay man that can charm anyone within minutes. Even God fell under his spell the day they met. Years later, the two imposing men are unstoppable and become invaluable to the Atlanta PD Narcotic's department. Over the years, they both start to realize their friendship is deeper than either can ever explain. They’d do anything for each other and anyone who knows them can instantly see their bond. Unfortunately, a relationship is not something they believe the other could ever give into. Day likes to play the field and God isn't gay. They're partners and best friends, if things go wrong it could destroy everything they've built. I love this series, I think I've read it at least 6 or 7 times since it came out. Getting to review the audiobook book was a no-brainer for me and I’m so glad I did it. I’ve written how I felt about the story many times. I truly love God and Day and their adventures and antics leave me laughing out loud. These two men are absolutely perfect for one another, as friends, as partners and as a couple. They're funny and their banter is hilarious. I love the action, the Alpha dominance that both men possess and the romantic and steamy moments that have me fanning myself. These two men are H.O.T! My only complaint is and always has been ***Spoiler Alert*** the partner sharing. It’s the one element in the story that just does not sit right with me. Why do God and Day have sex with another couple? I don't personally have a problem with ménage or polyamory but there really is no warning (at the time I first read the story in 2014) and even after reading it multiple times since, it did not fit into the story, in my opinion. I found it out of character for the men I believe God and Day are and in my opinion, the flow of the story. *** As for the Narrator Aiden Snow, he was awesome! The person bringing these characters to life really needed to have a special voice and quality to them and he definitely did. I often times find the narrator of audiobooks is missing something or that they can be a bit cheesy but this time I was very happy with how Aiden portrayed the characters and this story. It had a great cadence and smooth flow and made me see both God and Day even more clearly than before. Overall, I would definitely recommend Nothing Special by AE Via on audiobook!
This one didn't really work for me but I liked the narrator.
love the story. love God and Day.
Narrator is beyond sexy. Book was spicy and so darn romantic!
Narrator Aiden Snow: 5 Stars! I really enjoyed this story. I wasn't accustomed to reading erotica novels, but since I read this book I am hood up.
Nothing Special by A.E. Via is the starting book of a great series, but it’s not for the faint of heart. This is real life in a big city full of criminals but there are also true heroes who fight to keep its streets safe for everyone. Written in a no nonsense style and well narrated by Aiden Snow, Nothing Special is like good, strong liquor. Five stars and a big thumb up!
Really enjoyed this story, and it was interesting how the men changed their relationship almost in a moment with no real doubts or psycho dramas. Their connection was well described and there's some macho action scenes along with the sex and emotions - something for everyone. Great narration too.
Great characters, an engaging story, and lots, and lots, and lots of sex. I really enjoyed the buildup of Leo and Cash's partnership. The instant connection on their first day as rookies. As well as the strength of their friendship over the years. Then when their friendship takes a turn towards romantic and sexual into love and lovers. The friendship they develop within their job and the drama with family help give depth to the story. Overall it kept my attention, and the narration was well done. I know a lot of friends I will recommend this story to. But for me, it had too many sex scenes. At least more than I wanted to listen to.
Sorry, this is a story full of dirty language, no thrill, no romance . Shame about the money I paid for this bad audio book.
This is a great start to an awesome series. of course the relationship with the main guys is amazing but the other characters are not just there, they are a part of the story. I would highly recommend giving this a try.
lots and lots of sexyness! awesome love story- recommended listen!
These guys are funny! AE Via does another excellent job. Her characters are always awesome and her story line is hot. It also has a good core story in it. God and Day will draw you in. I'm on the 3rd book and started the series a few days go... Love it!
Nothing Special is the first book in the Nothing Special series by the fabulous A.E. Via. I didn't find this series until the fourth book so to say I was happy when the first was released on audio is an understatement. This is my first book with Aiden Snow as a narrator and he's now on my favorites list. I loved his deep rumble and the way he used his voice to differentiate the characters. For me his voice enhanced the sexiness and the strength and courage of the characters. God and Day are best friends and partners. They have a dangerous job and they always have each other's six. After almost five years together, one night their feelings seem to change from friendship to much more. God has a painful past and Day is just the man to help him become whole again. Their passion and love will be the thing that saves him. I loved listening to God and Day admit their feelings and fall for each other. They are tough and strong, but vulnerable. Day is hilarious and has no filter on his mouth whatsoever. God is huge, sexy, but sweet and caring. I can't wait to listen to the rest of the series if he's going narrate!
I love A.E. Via books. They are always stellar. Reading Nothing Special is fantastic, but listening to the deep gravelly sounds of Aiden Snow makes it an experience. I loved how he made each character distinguishable from another. And just saying when things get heated up on the pages he really makes an impression. I loved the narrator, he made the book come alive and so very enjoyable. The story itself is fantastic. Two highly alpha males, cops no less are just what I wanted. The secondary characters were engaging and I absolutely love Leo and Cash. Leo has a hysterical wit and no filter. Cash is his complete opposite. This story is gripping and emotional. I loved it.
Hot cops, anyone? Partners, GFY, hurt/comfort galore that pushing all the right buttons for me. Cash and Leo were so hot together. Pile on some drama and family secret, this is one hell of a wild ride. I actually read some of my friends review before starting on this audio and it did help me to get a feel of how the story will go before I dive in. I was even warned about the scene towards the end. It might have totally caught me off guard if I didn't know it earlier. The narration in the beginning sounds a bit robotic to me. I tend to have this problem whenever I listened to a new narrator. However, once I get into the groove, his deep voice really match the overall tone of the story and help immerse me into the setting so much more.
