Summary
The sole witness to a horrific crime, Kaylee Ramay flees to the Colorado Rockies to start a new life. There she becomes Grace, a dog kennel employee desperately trying to avoid attention-especially from dangerously attractive K9 Officer Hugh Murdoch.

Because Hugh is tall, dark . . . and nothing but trouble.

Hugh is anxious to get back in the field after an act of heroism left him warming the bench.
Until then, he and his K9 partner Lexi spend their hours teasing the town's mysterious newcomer. But when their simmering attraction is nearly cut short by a sniper's bullet, Hugh's mystery woman must come clean about the secrets she keeps . . .

Or both of them will pay the price.

Thoroughly enjoyable characters and really good plot development. Twists you just don’t see coming make for an engaging read. The story grabs you in the very beginning and just doesn’t let go. I am looking forward to the next in the series. Even the narrator, who I really didn’t care for in the first book, seems to have improved.

so I don't think I'm feeling this series from KR. She makes it seem like the story of mostly about the heroine's trouble in their past but then there's this sudden U-turn and all of a sudden, we're focused on the hero's past issues. Not that I don't love reading about the beautiful puppies in the stories but I was hoping for more from there heroine's story. Now I have to say that KR is really good at banter and this banter between characters in this book is hilarious. The danger factor is off the charts. The hotness factor is extremely low as the characters only had a couple of kisses until the end of the book.

It’s a good developed plot and the author did a good job with the bantering back and forth between the main characters. The down side was the narrator. Hours of listening to one speed. FAST. it didn’t matter if it was a tense drama part or a romantic part it was the same and she repeated the few reflections she new over and over. Since 80% of the story was read by the narrator it would have been a better listen if you would have matched the narrator with the story.
