Although, it involves a sledgehammer and perfectly good drywall, so maybe you can’t.She doesn’t look or act like any government employee I’ve met and I’m determined to uncover her secrets. When I lean in, I lean in hard. But so does Vivian. Now that we’re incinerating the bedsheets, we’re in way over our heads. What started out as physical infatuation quickly morphs into more. Vivian is staying at my place and I’m helping bury her father. She’s meeting my adoptive family and I’m hiring her fresh-out-of-rehab brother. With our checkered pasts, trust doesn’t come easily, but hell if I let that stop me from living happily ever after...

Once Upon a Billionaire by Jessica Lemmon is book 1 in the Blue Collar Billionaire Series. Nate - Never finishes a project late - Not until he meets Vivian. Vivian and her boss ( who was kind of weak willed but he made Vivian look strong which helps with the story) find out that a rumor of a new building not quite being to code. Vivian approached Nate on site to shut him down until he got the proper licenses. Nate, again never behind on a job, offers Vivian just about everything from sex to money in order to get this job back on the ground. Vivian, with secrets of her own, decides she knows men like Nate and she’s not impressed. I really like all the side story and character building that happened in this story. I was lucky enough to get this in audio as well and the narration of Jennifer Blom and Tom Heft was perfect for this story. This was the first time I have listened to either of them and I will be looking for more books by them. Overall, I really liked the story and I will be continuing the series.

The series title caught my attention before anything about the book. I love billionaire romance with a down-to-earth billionaire, so Blue Collar Billionaires sounded like something I very much wanted to read or listen to, as the case may be. So, I started listening to Once Upon a Billionaire (a terrific title, in my opinion), and I'll be honest - I wasn't sure if I was gonna like Nate. I do like an alpha male, and I even like an arrogant alpha male, but Nate came across as a jerk at first. I assume that was intentional because, as it turns out, Nate is totally redeemable, and he is also totally lovable. It didn't take long for me to decide that Vivian is one lucky gal to catch Nate's attention. While this may be the Nate and Vivian show, they aren't the only great characters. This one has a well-rounded group of characters that I hope to see more of as the series progresses. Great characters aside, what I loved most about this romance is it's not perfect - not by a long shot - and that makes it so much more than just another billionaire romance. There are real-life issues and problems that get in the way, and not all of them are just Vivian's or just Nate's issues. Some things are on the periphery but still affect these characters. It makes them all feel so much more realistic, and there are things that I can relate to. Not the billionaire thing, much as I'd like that to be it. Jennifer Blom and Tom Heft give voice to the characters, and this is my first time listening to either of these narrators. Both did a great job with the many emotions that run through this story. I don't know how long Heft has been narrating, but I kind of feel like he's still working on some aspects. That aside, I enjoyed the listen and the story, and I'll be anxious to dive into the next book in the series.

PERFORMANCE: 4 STARS • Both Tom Heft & Jennifer Blom were new-to-me narrators with this story and they both did a really good job bringing this story to life for me overall. However, Tom Heft needs a lot of work on his “female” voice LOL Jennifer is versatile and saved this listening experience for me and I’ve already marked her as a #oneclick narrator. • STORY: 4 STARS • The very first thing I thought when I finished listening to this story was “well, it’s doesn’t get more real than that” and then I smiled like a lunatic LOL • Okay, so this story, these characters … they are real people who might be your neighbor. I say that because you don’t have to wish or get lost in in this story because it’s organic and relatable with regular people, even the billionaire! Am I making sense? The journey is flawed and full of potholes because life is flawed and full of potholes! Feel me? It is realistic fiction and I am all kinds of giddy from this listening experience. I loved the chemistry between Vivian and Nate, SO MUCH! They sparked from the very beginning! That spark wasn’t always *heart eyes*, but again, realistic fiction people! • AND, the story ends with a HEA, of course, but it’s not this beautifully wrapped box with a bow on top. You wanna know why? … say it with me … REALISTIC FICTION! Listen, I’m not trying to say that life’s journey doesn’t sometimes have beautifully wrapped packages along the way, but it’s not always like that, and too many romance stories have this incessant “plot device” and it’s just refreshing when the reader knows their leads are going to make it but their relationship still might need work. That was done really well in this book which of course makes me want to jump straight into the next story ASAP just to see if this is a one-off LOL • It's been a whole bunch of years since I’ve read this author’s work and at the time it was being traditionally published so she’s a brand-new author to me in more than one way right now and I truly am excited to see what else she’s capable of!

This is the first book in the Blue Collar Billionaires Series. Vivian and Nate's slow burn romance is complex, sweet, and emotional. Vivian is beautiful, caring and supportive. Nate is handsome, and enigmatic. I liked his determination. Their push and pull relationship is intense. The storyline is original, and interesting, filled with drama. Jennifer Blom and Tom Heft did a great job bringing this story to life.

This was the perfect listen for my Saturday! I have fallen in love with Jessica Lemmon's writing style with this feel good, blue collar to billionaire romance. We meet Vivian. Reputation ruined by her father, she flees to start her life over with a new name and where no one knows her. She has given up her fancy life and become a quiet, everyday person. When given the task of going on a job site to give the wealthy construction foreman, Nate, an ultimatum, she holds no fear and is ready to close the job down. Nate is not going to let her get the best of him. He is a stand up man, from a poor childhood, he was taught to work hard and reap the rewards. Will she take him down in more ways than just work? This is a fun, flirty banter filled story with a relevant theme throughout. I fell in love with Nate. He is so down to earth, grounded and doesn't forget where he comes from. Vivian has a tough time dealing with her past and I love how Nate helps her. This is a wonderfully told love story and was a great weekend listen. I will be grabbing more of Lemmon's audios! Jennifer Blom and Tom Heft are a fantastic narration team for this blue collar story. Each dials into their character and finds the personality that best fits them. Blom gives the emotional turmoil Vivian goes through with the nuances in her voice. I could feel her guilt and self protection. Nate is an honest, hardworking man, and Heft brings it all out. Swoony, protective and easily sees through Vivian, Heft's voice has that sound that is comforting. These two were perfect for their roles.

Vivian Vandemark is my favorite type of heroine . Sassy, quick witted, way to nice for her own good but doesn’t let anyone walk all over her, drop dead gorgeous hiding from a past that she never seems to fully escape from . Vivian comes from wealth money but wants absolutely nothing to do with that life anymore . That’s why you can find her in a semi-crappy apartment, working for the construction side of government pretending that she loves this totally non-glamorous lifestyle . Nate Owen is the complete opposite of Vivian in how they were raised what they strive for now as adults . Nate grew up poor, unloved unwanted until the Owen’s adopted him . Being adopted into a billionaire family at 15 was never what Nate expected but it paved the way for him to be the amazing construction tycoon he is today . Always the best work, always done early did I mention always done ahead of schedule . So when little miss red tape walks in with demands of paperwork and assuming wrongdoings, Nate has finally met his match . The two from the very first meeting are sizzling with heat a chemistry that can’t be denied . Neither of them want to like the other one for varying reasons but their connection can’t be ignored for long . The only problem is that Nate can see through Vivian’s secrets lies which complicates things in Vivian’s mind . Nate’s constant need for approval to fix things will get him in trouble . All while Vivian’s she high walls fear of getting hurt again will only push away the one person she needs most in her life . This is the first book in the Blue Collar Billionaires series but can be read as a stand-alone . This is my first book by Jessica Lemmon she did not disappoint . I am so excited to read the rest of the series and whatever else Jessica has in store for us ! This book was given to my for honest review by Valentine PR Literary Management .
