Summary
I fled the city to get my life together. Not to fall in love with the single dad.

My name is Betsy Sullivan, and I'm a hot mess. My parents have cut me off. No jobs interest me. I have no idea what I want for my future. Then there's my love life. Or lack thereof. So I do what every twenty-something does when she's lost—pack up my life and move to a small town in Tennessee.

I didn't expect to find—and fall in love with—Wes Taylor. I tried to resist. I swear. Then I saw how much he loves his kids. And how hot his professional football player body looks like in a pair of gray sweatpants.

And once he kissed me? I was a goner.

For the first time in my life, I finally feel like my life has purpose. I should have known that some things are too good to be true. Because I'm Betsy Sullivan. The hot mess. The lost soul.

And I might be ready to spend my life with Wes Taylor. I just don't know if he’s ready to spend his life with me.

Contains mature themes.

This was a very sweet single dad, small town, slow burn romance. Wes is a professional football player who, when he announces his retirement, his wife decides to divorce him and leave him and the kids. Since he is still in his last year of playing he decides to move back home and have family help him with the kids, till he can get something more permanent figured out. While there he meets Betsy, a young woman who recently moved to town trying to rebuild her life and is renting his parents rental house (which happens to be right next door to his parents). She connects with his kids first when she meets them on Halloween and that eventually leads to her being his new nanny... The banter bettween these MMC's is wonderful and of course with the all the other characters too, I believe setting up for future books. The narrators did a good job with the book and made it a great to listen to. I was given an ALC to listen to and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This story was cute and a beautiful story of a family rebuilding itself after a traumatic change in their lives. Wes is a single dad that is learning to navigate how to do it all alone with three kids. Betsy is a woman trying to find her purpose and stride in life after several failed attempts at steady employment. They come into each other's worlds at the perfect time and instantly feel a connection between each other and with the kids. It's a beautiful love story of finding love in the most unlikely of ways and using that joy and love to help heal the broken parts in each other. And seeing them become a family together is sweet. These are two narrators that I've never listened to before and they both were wonderful. I love discovering new narrators and exploring talent! This is my first Chelle Sloan book and I enjoyed it! Looking forward to the next one in the series!

This is a fantastic book to read, but the audiobook takes it up another level! Stephanie Rose and Chris Chambers are the perfect narrators to bring this book to life. They brought a mix of southern drawl and down-to-earth vibes while layering in a sexy timber that will have you blushing. The One I Want is a feel-good read. Wes and Betsy's connection was flirty and palpable, while they helped each other find direction as they each made life transitions. And when they finally give in to their attraction, it's steamy in all the best ways. I adored each of Wes' kids, laughed at the friend group banter, and was charmed by the people of Rolling Hills.

Fabulous start to The Rolling Hills series. Wes is going through a divorce and shouldn’t fall for the girl that is renting from his parents, especially since he just hired her as the nanny. The instant connection Betsy had with kids was beautiful. And the chemistry she had with Wes was Hot with a capital H. Great found family love story. I had the pleasure of listening to the audiobook narrated by Chris Chambers and Stephanie Rose. This was a great pairing. They did such a great job with all the characters, especially the kids. They made you feel apart of the story. I highly recommend this audiobook. Thank you Valentine PR and Chelle Sloan for this ALC.

The One I Want is book 1 in the Rolling Hills Series by Chelle Sloan. Chelle Sloan is a new author to me and I can’t wait to check out more of her writing! After over a decade in the NFL playing for the Nashville Fury Wes is ready to retire. When he comes home after making the press conference announcement he is greeted by his wife leaving not only him but their three children, Emerson, Hank and Magnolia. There is no better place to be than “home” during this difficult time, so Wes moves back to his hometown of Rolling Hills. Betsy is still trying to find her true passion in the world, she has tried job after job and nothing has worked out. Her parents are judgemental and unsupportive. With the lack of support from her parents, Betsy moves to Rolling Hills to be closer to her best friend. When Wes and Betsy cross paths the chemistry is palpable, so when Betsy becomes the nanny for Wes’ kids, are they going to deny their chemistry or embrace it? The One I Want was so good, I cannot wait for book 2 in the series on audio! I love single parent romance, but what set this one apart for me was the focus on the children’s personalities. It was so sweet to see Betsy not only embrace them for who they were, but encourage them to continue to enjoy the things they loved (unlike their mother). This story was sweet, swoony and had some good spice. The narration: I cannot get enough of Stephanie Rose and her southern accent. This is a dual narrated audiobook and she also performs the male voices in a flawless southern accent! This was my first time listening to Chris Chambers and he was great! I am looking forward to listening to more from him.

There’s nothing sexier than a dad who totally gets his kids. And Wes is sexy in spades. This small-town single-dad-who-needs-a-nanny-romance is charming, sweet and will have you snuggling on the couch with tea and diving in. With an ex who doesn’t want to raise her kids anymore, Wes is left to figure how to be a single dad. Betsy has had one too many jobs, none of which suited her well. So, when she’s offered a nanny job to Wes’s darling kids she finds her groove. Both narrators have a full range for all of the characters and it really adds depth to the narration. Chris Chambers narrating as Wes delivers a sexy southern accent. Although he had a slight sing-song element to his voice during the actual narration which was a bit distracting, his dialogue parts did not have that affectation. He has a very natural tone for dialogue and for all the other characters. Stephanie Rose really brought Betsy t life, with a spunky tone that fit her personality. Her male voice has deeper register and is spot on. These narrators are a great pairing.

This is book 1 in the Rolling Hills Series. Each story is an interconnected stand alone that can be read Ian any order. I do suggest starting with this one as we get an introduction to all of the MMC's that will eventually get their own book. I listened to this book on audio. The narrators are Chris Chambers and Stephanie Rose...These 2 voice actors are top notch and did this story justice. I loved every second of the banter where their comedic side came out I also loved the tender moments and all of the emotion that shone through in their performance. truly a phenomenal audiobook that I highly recommend. Mercy me was this a fun and beautiful story. We get small town romance, famous football player, single dad and second chances. The family dynamic was the real star of this story. From the children to the best friends to the beautifully written romance between Wes and Betsy. Every single second of this book was a joy to listen too. I even loved the subtle southern accents that were an extra fun surprise. go pick this one up, you won't be sorry.

The One I Want was such a sweet single dad, nanny romance. This was my first Chelle Sloan book, and I just fell for this football dad and his three perfect kids. This started out differently than I expected with a single dad/nanny romance since he was married in the opening. Wes is a successful pro football star ready for retirement. He has been married to his college girlfriend for years, but he is completely blindsided when she wants a divorce and leaves him and their kids. He decides to move back to his hometown for a fresh start and support. He meets his parents' curvy and sassy new neighbor, and she builds an immediate connection with his 3 kids. He realizes he needs more help with the kids during his last season of football and asks her to be the nanny. Wes and Betsy have great banter, and you could feel their chemistry, but it was not the best timing. Wes just got divorced, and now she was working for him. Of course, they were not able to deny their connection for long. I absolutely loved how Chelle Sloan showed their relationship after they got together. The 3rd act conflict was realistic and needed for the issues Wes had from his horrible ex-wife.

Fabulous Story & Listen! Charming & Heartwarming! This is a wonderfully charming sports romance novel, one that not only captivates your attention the entire time, but tugs at your heartstrings and warms your heart, too. This first book of the “Rolling Hills” series is Betsy Sullivan and Wes Taylor’s story and is a nanny/single dad romance. Wes is a professional football player for the Nashville Fury, and after 12 years he wants to go out while still on top, retire and spend more time with his family, his wife Cara and his three children, Emerson, Hank and Magnolia. Except his wife had other plans, ones that did not include him or their children. Moving back to Rolling Hills was not in his plans either, but that is where his family and friends are and now that he is a single dad, he will need all the support he can get for when he has practice and games. Betsy has tried many careers, but none suited her and when her father cuts her off, she moves to Rolling Hills where her friend Whitley lives to try out another career, one that does not work out, but another one falls into her lap, her landlord who lives next door, thinks she would be the perfect nanny for her son’s three children, children she already met and adored. Betsy connected with the kids immediately and despite having no experience or formal training to take care of children, she was a natural, and Wes admired her for that. It was great to watch these to know each other, and there was an undeniable chemistry between them, one they could only deny for so long. I loved all the layers of this story and how it all played out, with the perfect balance of drama, charming humor, witty dialogue, heartfelt emotions and a steamy romance. Chelle Sloan, thank you for this fabulously entertaining story, the laughs and the emotional rollercoaster ride. I am looking forward to my next visit to Rolling Hills, to spend more time in this amazing world and characters you created. And for the amazing narration, Stephanie Rose and Chris Chambers were the perfect cast to bring these characters to life, giving each a voice that was fitting and believable. Their portrayal of each character was incredible, humanizing them while showcasing their personalities perfectly. Stephanie Rose was fabulous as Betsy brought out her sass and positivity naturally, and Chambers was just as amazing as Wes, swoon worthy and all. Both were fantastic performing the roles of the children and the secondary characters, too. They said the perfect tone for the story captured all the characters’ emotions and had you feel them all. These entertaining storytellers are a pleasure to listen to and their performance elevates this already wonderful story to another level. Thanks for another amazing listen.

A hot mess with a big heart, an ironic sense of humor and great narration. No one tells a story quite like, Chelle Sloan. Chambers and Rose are a welcome delight. From the hints of irony to the seduction of heart, The One I Want delivers.

Start a new series. That is what I am doing. Fall in love with the characters. I can't help it. Love the kids. It's in my blood. Chelle Sloan pulls me in from the very start as retiring football player, Wes, becomes a single dad. Yes, he was blindsided by the divorce, but a stable, loving home is what he wants his kids to have and moving back to his hometown is the best idea. That is where his family and best friends are, and the new woman that is renting from his parents. Betsy is a mess. Unable to find her niche, she has difficulty holding a job. That is until Wes's mom throws her into babysitting the kids. And now as the new nanny, she shines. Not only for the kids mind you! Wes and Betsy are meant to be together. They can feel it, the kids can feel it, so what is in the way? Give this a listen, and you will find out! Meet Emerson, Hank and Magnolia, the stars of the book as they give this story a brightness that stole my heart. I cannot wait to hear Oliver's story. It's going to be epic! Chris Chamber and Stephanie Rose are fantastic together as they tell this story. Chambers is Wes and his emotions flew through my earbuds. He has a huge array of feelings as Wes navigates his new normal and he is spot on in every scene. Rose is Betsy, and what a great character. She is matter of fact, vulnerable and easy to love, and Rose creates her perfectly. This is a fabulous listen and can't wait for more!

I absolutely LOVED Listening to this book by Chelle Sloan. This story is what I adore about romance it is so sweet and swoon worthy my heart fell in love with Wes,Betsy and those kids Emerson ,Hank and Magnolia. are as cute as a button.! Wes Taylor has the shock of his life when his wife walks out on him and their 3 children, wanting a divorce and not wanting to be a full time Mum anymore. That is not the only change that is happening in Wes's life as he is retiring from football, one more season and then that will be the end of his career. He just doesn't know what to do after football, and now he is a single father to 3 children who are suddenly without their mother. One thing is clear though Wes is a really good dad,the relationship he has with his children is beautiful. Betsy Sullivan comes from money but her parents have cut her off,and she can't seem to keep a job to save her life.So she moves to Rolling Hills to work with her friend and she rents the house that Wes's parents own. Wes also moves back to Rolling Hills with his 3 children for a fresh start and to be near his parents,he needs them for support and child care.He is struggling and then his Mother suggests he needs a nanny and she knows the perfect candidate her new tenant Betsy. I Love Betsy and empathised with her as she is lost and has no idea what she wants to do with her life, her parents made her feel like she was not good enough. Betsy is quirky and funny her inner dialogue made me giggle at times and she has a strength and loyalty inside her that is admirable. Wes is OMG just GORGEOUS he is like the perfect man a great dad,and an Amazing boyfriend he made my head spin. The dialogue is so witty between all the characters and was so funny when needed to be,and it was perfectly delivered by the narrators Chris Chambers and Stephanie Rose...They are an ideal duo to make Wes and Betsy come to life. They made this story even more special and expressed every emotion wonderfully from laughs to tears you could hear it all in their voices. Chris and Stephanie are very talented voice actors and I thoroughly enjoyed listening to them tell this story. The One I want By Chelle Sloan is a stunning single dad/forbidden romance that I relished every second of listening to...I love the chemistry between Wes and Betsy The romance is marvellous and gives you all the feels, the story has the perfect balance of sweetness and spice...and I loved Chelle Sloan's writing. An Amazing book Loved it. 5 Stars.
