Unabridged Audiobook
The US Presidency attracts many interesting sharacters. This book churned with the rich interplay between a man of character and faith, a context of perplexing issues and the cast of villains and power players that makes ones head spin. Bird tells the story with granular detail that comes from his research but the story is Carter's. He is a curious, confident and compassionate character who does not know when to quit. For me the delightful sequences of the book are the Iranian hostage situation and the Israeli intransigence. The telling of the impacts of people like Begin and Brzezinski made me deeply sad but the scale and density of this story left me hopeful.
