“Few [books] become essential manuals for business and living. The Power of Habit is an exception.”—Financial Times

A WALL STREET JOURNAL AND FINANCIAL TIMES BEST BOOK OF THE YEAR

In The Power of Habit, award-winning business reporter Charles Duhigg takes us to the thrilling edge of scientific discoveries that explain why habits exist and how they can be changed. Distilling vast amounts of information into engrossing narratives that take us from the boardrooms of Procter & Gamble to the sidelines of the NFL to the front lines of the civil rights movement, Duhigg presents a whole new understanding of human nature and its potential. At its core, The Power of Habit contains an exhilarating argument: The key to exercising regularly, losing weight, being more productive, and achieving success is understanding how habits work. As Duhigg shows, by harnessing this new science, we can transform our businesses, our communities, and our lives.

Extremely eye opening and informational on how we are manipulated into buying trends. The habits we have and why. Very good information for everyone.

Profile Avatar Joel B Aug 2017

Great book and narrator, very interesting and informative.

Profile Avatar Roy C. Oct 2018

The information was interesting but mostly about product habits and not creating your own habits in life. Yes, you can take the things said and apply them to yourself but was hoping for more details about everyday habit forming.

Profile Avatar Gerardo P May 2017

This was a very great read. The narrator was very clear and this gave me a clear understanding of how habits work.

Profile Avatar Lana Vivant Jul 2016

Book is very interesting, to say the least. Plus informative and applicable to our own habits

I couldn’t turn it off! Charles Duhigg is so good at turning a long list of cases into a story that holds your attention. I was left inspired and encouraged. My friends are getting tired of hearing about Everything I learned, but I am already using his discoveries at work and at home.

I was not a big fan of the narrator. He tried different voices for different characters and it was annoying to listen to. The book itself is good with a wealth of examples to prove the authors points. Takes a weird twist at the end where it becomes very philosophical.

Profile Avatar HERMINIO R Nov 2017

Interesting and reflexive! Great writer, great narrator.

Profile Avatar Abdulhadi Alramadhan Oct 2016

This has some good research but most of the analysis are extremely poor... It's missing clear explanations for readers to apply those tips.

Profile Avatar Julian Rojo Jul 2016

This is an important and excellent book to understand.

Profile Avatar christine tizzard Jul 2016

-Great book to help understand the power of habits and how to deal with them. The social science behind habits is very interesting.

Profile Avatar Antonio Hill Dec 2015

So enlightening! Definitely have hidden jewels throughout the book...

Profile Avatar Ali Hamzavi Dec 2015

This is a very informative and practical book. It gives you an understanding about your habits and why you do things habitually. It also offers you how to analyze and come up with possible alternatives and solutions to change the habbits. I will listen to it a few more time. The Narrator also did a great job too.

This has honestly been the most I've learned from a book since high school. Very informative, amazingly interesting read. It's amazing how you can change the way you look at life itself in such a short time. I will read this again and again.

I have purchased the book and listened to the audio 5x now!!! Opened my mind to how much we do are habits.

Profile Avatar Anonymous Dec 2022

Although I already knew about all of the neuroscientific experiments that were mentioned in this book, the way they were mixed with psychology and personal perceptions, made the book really amusing. The fact that the author was the narrator was an extra plus!

Profile Avatar Karyn H. Aug 2022

Enjoyed the book, narrator had a great voice to listen to, and lots of great information to change the course of your life for the better. GAME CHANGER!

Profile Avatar Misty A. Jul 2022

Helpful and insightful.

Profile Avatar Nina Jun 2021

I loved this book! It gives a lot of examples but they really helped me understand how a habit forms and how to change it. At the end it also gives practical and easily applied advice.

Profile Avatar Nichole U. Feb 2021

Read and listened to this book on multiple occasions and always motivates and inspires me

Great book!

Profile Avatar Mignon W. May 2019

Had to force myself through the book. narrator voice was so monotone, would have been better off reading it myself

Profile Avatar EboniJoi M. Apr 2019

Such a great book! Such great narration! Finished the book much faster than I anticipated! :)

Profile Avatar Christina F. Mar 2019

Long but good.

Profile Avatar Monica M. Jun 2018

The books is awesome ! I really like all the information and I'ts been eye opening as well as making me hopeful that I can change habits that I thought were hard rooted. The Narrator is awesome . This is the only book I've listened to on this app. I had other apps and this book was way more expensive on other audio books apps. The only thing that I would improve is that when I listen to it on my car sometimes it doesn't recognize what I had already read at the iphone while not connected. So not sure if its the app. or the car doing this trick ... but other than that ... AWESOME so fat !

Profile Avatar Thomas K Apr 2018

Everybody should listen to this book. The writer did an incredible job and the narrators performance was spectacular! He made it very entertaining!

Profile Avatar Joseph K Apr 2018

This book is great!! I enjoyed every minute of it!!

Profile Avatar Robert T May 2017

I found it interesting to the end.

Profile Avatar Spenser Bryant Mar 2017

I enjoyed this book. It has a lot of good information about how habits are formed and even throws in a couple of ways to create new habits to replace your old ones. Although, I think there could have been more focus on habit reformation and creation. The narrator is pleasant to listen to but he can get overly invested in certain sections which can distract from the material.

Profile Avatar Tori Obermeier Aug 2016

Good an interesting in the sense of HOW habits are formed but I'm still not 100% convinced how to create new habits

Profile Avatar Chad Ramos Jul 2016

I really appreciated the information in the book...the insights, takeaways and overall understanding of how habits effect one's life and how to take control of them. Highly recommend!

Profile Avatar Anonymous Mar 2024

Amazing book , so true how many habits we have and we are unaware. With this book if you are open enough you will be able to recognize them and then so easy change the ones you don’t like them.

Profile Avatar David P. Sep 2022

I thought this was very interesting.

Profile Avatar Anonymous Feb 2022

unbelievable good it helped me so so so so much

Profile Avatar Adele K. Jul 2018

Really great book...interesting and important topic with information that can be applied in personal and professional life.

Profile Avatar Alli H Jun 2017

This is not a self help book it's more like a lot of research about habits and stories about people who had habits that they broke or stories about how scientists learned more about habits. I really walked away without really understanding what they wanted me to take away from the book. It was a boring waste of time.
