Unabridged Audiobook
I really enjoyed this audiobook. I had discovered the Ian Rutledge mysteries and became a huge fan of the inspector, but.....The stories became too dark and the brave inspector was not only tortured by his PTSD, but his superintendent and every single policeman, official and villager he encountered. And that despite the fact that Rutledge is a very smart and very kind man who has a way with people. This book is a bit lighter, he has a new superintendent and the villagers were actually helpful and kind to him. The mystery was good, even though I had the murderer tagged early on. I just didn't know the motive. I am looking forward to listen to more Rutledge novels. The authors really bring the post WWI era in Britain to life. Highly recommended reading/listening with a nice cuppa of tea.
