The Sea Wolf

One of my favorites by Jack London but it took an effort to listen to by this listless narrator. Very flat, monotone, and poor inflection.

I couldn’t get through the first chapter. The narrator was terrible.

It's no Call Of The Wild, but still good. Narrator was pretty monotone.

The narrator whist having an accent which seemed to fit the text they did struggle over some words and in parts the recording jumped and staggered, which reduced the overall enjoyment. there was also a background hum and the sounds of striking clocks in the background.

Tough to listen to. This great book should be read again for us.

Jack London shows detailed knowledge of schooners but the plot depends too much on unrealistic coincidences to be believable. How the male critic happens to be picked up in SF Bay, how the lead female happens to come aboard the ship, how the ghost miraculously drifts into the remote cove where the pair are marooned…too much to believe. The narration is so bad I wouldn’t buy any book from Audio Books for fear their narration would be similar. A definite FICTION narrated by a man that should find another occupation.

Such a tremendous, classic! The narrator though gave no life to such a great novel. He should not narrate another.

I loved, loved, loved the book. The narrator was pretty monotonous, but the story more than made up for it.

I had read the book a long time ago and loves it. I made through the 1st chapter, but the narrators monotone voice wouldn't allow me to go any further. It ruined the story.

I am in the middle of this listen, but I can say that I was captured from the very beginning. Excitement and suspense started immediately and escalated throughout the story. The author bills the character of the captain, Wolf Larsen, in a way that in spite of of his unbelievable brutality, I cannot help but be drawn to him because of his surprising redeeming qualities. I can see why the author, Jack London, is such a renowned author. His knowledge of the sea and sailing ships is exceeded only by his obvious literary and writing skills. A great listen.

The book is exciting if you know it was written in 1904. The romantic aspect strained credibility. The narration was not good, however very flat.

Good book but let down by the monotone narrator.

I enjoyed the story but narrator sounded like he had no interest in reading it.
