Unabridged Audiobook
This wasn't my kind of book. It is about what one would think (by its title) and the author brings up some very thoughtful ideas about the situation but her style is slow - very, very slow, and even repetitive. I felt, by the end of it, that if I heard the name "Christopher" again, that I would scream. She perseverates on ideas to a point that it becomes boring. I didn't understand why the setting of the plot. I don't know what part that really played in the book, although it was interesting to read about the lives of the locals. The narrator did not help the book. She was excellent with accents (Greek and British) but the narrative between was about as monotone as I have heard an audiobook reader. She has no inflection or modulation in her straight speech.
The author’s descriptioms are so vivid, I felt like I was right there. It’s an enjoyable read but when I finished I was sort of left with a “so what?” feeling.
