Summary
In this powerful entry in the #1 New York Times bestselling series, Mercy Thompson must face a deadly enemy to defend all she loves…

My name is Mercedes Athena Thompson Hauptman, and I am a car mechanic.
And a coyote shapeshifter.
And the mate of the Alpha of the Columbia Basin werewolf pack.

Even so, none of that would have gotten me into trouble if, a few months ago, I hadn’t stood upon a bridge and taken responsibility for the safety of the citizens who lived in our territory. It seemed like the thing to do at the time. It should have only involved hunting down killer goblins, zombie goats, and an occasional troll. Instead, our home was viewed as neutral ground, a place where humans would feel safe to come and treat with the fae.

The reality is that nothing and no one is safe.  As generals and politicians face off with the Gray Lords of the fae, a storm is coming and her name is Death.

But we are pack, and we have given our word.

We will die to keep it.

I love this series of books and have relistened to them several times. I highly recommend the series to anyone who likes fantasy, strong female characters, unpredictable plots, and excellent narration.

well, this time almost no part skipped (I love Mercy's stories but I get restless when the plot gets stuck with endless descriptions of a bunch of ifs, whys & buts in front of dangerous opponents, not very likely, so I skip and skip, not so this time) To be honest, witches did spook me in the story... vampires don't spook you,, you're frightened by them in Mercy's stories... Personally, I prefer to be frightened instead of being spooked... I am happy that's all fiction... urban fantasy. Yes?

Started listening to this series a while ago. Love the fact that its location is Eastern Washington (my home!) and now you have made my 20 year old daughter "book famous" by using her name for the 6 year old girl(Mackiah) in this one! I about fell out of my chair when I heard that! Can't wait for the next one.....

As with all the Mercy books I loved this one. Patricia never fails to write a book that will keep you coming back for the next one. And Lorelei King is one of my all time favorite narrator’s.
