Summary
Persephone is the Goddess of Spring by title only. The truth is, since she was a little girl, flowers have shriveled at her touch. After moving to New Athens, she hopes to lead an unassuming life disguised as a mortal journalist.

Hades, God of the Dead, has built a gambling empire in the mortal world and his favorite bets are rumored to be impossible.

After a chance encounter with Hades, Persephone finds herself in a contract with the God of the Dead and the terms are impossible: Persephone must create life in the Underworld or lose her freedom forever.

The bet does more than expose Persephone's failure as a goddess, however. As she struggles to sow the seeds of her freedom, love for the God of the Dead grows—and it's forbidden.

Contains mature themes.

It would be more of a 2.5 if that existed. Liked it enough to finish it, but not so much as to truly 'like' it. The worldbuilding was actually interesting, the concept of a war between the mythical gods and humans attractive and well-worth exploring. However, the story gets stuck in the relationship between the protagonists, and nothing entirely original happens there. Maybe what bothered me the most was the 'bet' arc, it's the silliest, least innovative plot twist ever, and reminded me of stories like 'After', and I remember rolling my eyes the moment I heard it. The story wasn't picking up at all, and that just plunged it into the ground, so to speak. So, all in all, it was ok, but I'm happy I bought it in a 2x1 deal, or would've been greatly disappointed.

Really enjoyed both the book and the narration. The bargain that ties them together is a little flimsy IMHO, but other than that, this is a solidly satisfying romance. And the narrator does a great job with all the different voices.

It pulled me in and I was hooked. Love it

Love the series. Definitely not a huge fan of “hades voice”, but otherwise I really enjoyed all of the books.

The main character is insufferable. She’s such a bad person and everyone around her just takes her shit. Omg. She makes problems that aren’t there and is so ungrateful.

The narrator was great! I would listen to just about any book she narrated. The story itself was enticing easy to get into and left you wanting more.

Pageturning easy read if you just want to escape into a romance/fantasy. But still searching for the book that covers hades and persephone well. The underworld should be dantes inferno style epic. How can writers make it so bland.

I like the book but I don't care for the narrator because I read A touch of fate and a touch of vengeance first and I liked the narrator that did that better. I get the point of writing the book from Persephone's point of view. however, to me it was mostly just a repeat of the same story but it's still good.

A wonderful new spin on an old Greek myth, very well written, great character set up, beautiful language, very tasteful sex scenes! The narration by Meg Sylvan is „honey for your ears“, her voice is the perfect match for this book. I will add Scarlett to my favourite authors in this genre. 5 stars from me.

Pretty much a variety of “50 shades” with Greek mythological characters. I’m made it to the end but wouldn’t recommend it unless you’re really into that kind of plot with so-so writing.

Good story line, fun banter. I’m over books that are flat and one dimensional. This one kept me hooked. I was glad that there was more to the main character than just someone who needed a man in her life to complete her.

If there was a way to give a negative star rating , I would have used it here , total and complete rubbish , it was a free choice or I’d be livid if I actually paid for this rubbish , have tried multiple time to listen but it’s too nauciatimg , in fact I don’t think there are words in the English language to describe the total utter rubbish , so I’ll use a Hellenic phrase , this is total malakia .

I absolutely loved this story! The modern twist to an age old tale was delightful to listen to. The narrator does a great job at bringing the characters to life. If you enjoy Greek mythology and romance this is definitely the story for you! I look forward to listening to more of Hade's & Persephone's story.

The story had great romance. It would have been nice to be a bit more dramatic or mysterious. But overall a great listen and am excited to hear more of their story. I wasn't a fan of the narrator's "manly" voice. It just didn't do Hades justice - or any of the male characters really. It would've been nice to just have it read without trying to be a man.
