Summary
After bursting onto the fantasy scene with his acclaimed debut novel, Elantris, and following up with his blockbuster Mistborn trilogy, Brandon Sanderson proves again that he is today's leading master of what Tolkien called 'secondary creation,' the invention of whole worlds, complete with magics and myths all their own. Warbreaker is the story of two sisters, who happen to be princesses, the God King one of them has to marry, the lesser god who doesn't like his job, and the immortal who's still trying to undo the mistakes he made hundreds of years ago. Their world is one in which those who die in glory return as gods to live confined to a pantheon in Hallandren's capital city and where a power known as BioChromatic magic is based on an essence known as breath that can only be collected one unit at a time from individual people. By using breath and drawing upon the color in everyday objects, all manner of miracles and mischief can be accomplished. It will take considerable quantities of each to resolve all the challenges facing Vivenna and Siri, princesses of Idris; Susebron the God King; Lightsong, reluctant god of bravery, and mysterious Vasher, the Warbreaker.

Good story if you like political inner workings and conspiracies. Obviously the crux of the story is about war. Interesting cast of characters. Liked it as much as Elantris.

This was a wonderful book! I just recently turned on to Sanderson and so far I haven’t been disappointed yet! And I completely disagree with others comments about the narrator not being good. I thought she did a great job and never had trouble telling which character was speaking. I highly recommend it!

Great book. Narrator didn’t have the range for voices to make the characters individual. At times you needed to be told who was talking.

So far I have not heard/ read a book by Brandon Sanderson that I have not enjoyed. He has an amazing and impressive imagination and a great ability to make it all real. I'm not your typical fanticy reader, I'm an older lady, but I just can't get enough of his stories!! Thank goodness he writes so quickly!

Very dry. Not my fav. 50 characters long tho for the review

loved the book, but wish this was a full cast reading - or at least someone who understands that a character having a laid back attitude does not negate the importance of normal conversational inflection (regarding the depiction of Lightsong - which was TERRIBLE!!!)

So well written! At first, I was a bit put off by the length of the novel. Upon finishing it, I found myself wanting more!

Good story with an interesting plot and characters. Seems like the story ended prematurely, reader must assume what happens, or there would be a follow-up book. The narrator was okay.

It was different and had to learn about their breaths but wish there was more of an ending. I would listen to the series.

I really enjoyed this book! I loved the magic system, and the fact that colors reflected that magic. This is a bit more of a spoiler, only a tiny bit. What I really loved was that the characters didn't always know what was going on. There were a few mysteries and turns you could figure out and guess at, but a couple were surprises as well.

Great Story.. It is my opinion there is always a little truth in each story Brandon releases

Brandon Sanderson weaved a truly incredible tale! I felt satisfied at the end with all questions answered yet now curious to know more! My only downside would be that I did not feel like that narrator had many different voices and thus it was a little difficult at first to tell which character was speaking at the time. Other than that, she did a great job!

I’ve been jumping back and forth between Sanderson books not reading in order. Already caught up on the latest. I’m glad I went back and checked this one out. It definitely tugs at the heart.

Warbreaker is a fantastic book, and one of Brandon Sanderson’s best books, if not the best. It’s chock full of suspense and the kind of mid-tier stakes Sanderson excels at. The characters are well fleshed out, and each given enough time to flourish. The magic system is surprisingly easy to wrap your head around, even if it is explained too late in the text itself.

This book was great! Brandon Sanderson has a wonderful gift with words, world making and character building. His stories come alive on the pages, and you almost can feel yourself transported into one of his worlds. Alyssa Bresnahan was clear and charming in her delivery. I found it easy to tell which characters she was portraying, at any given time.

A great book to listen too, although the narration could have been much better.

Great book, narrator could have been better, but since I hadn't read the book before his character depictions didn't bother me too much. Worth a buy.
