Summary
From #1 New York Times bestselling author Brandon Sanderson, the Mistborn series is a heist story of political intrigue and magical, martial-arts action.

Three hundred years after the events of the Mistborn trilogy, Scadrial is now on the verge of modernity, with railroads to supplement the canals, electric lighting in the streets and the homes of the wealthy, and the first steel-framed skyscrapers racing for the clouds.

Kelsier, Vin, Elend, Sazed, Spook, and the rest are now part of history—or religion. Yet even as science and technology are reaching new heights, the old magics of Allomancy and Feruchemy continue to play a role in this reborn world. Out in the frontier lands known as the Roughs, they are crucial tools for the brave men and women attempting to establish order and justice.

One such is Waxillium Ladrian, a rare Twinborn, who can Push on metals with his Allomancy and use Feruchemy to become lighter or heavier at will. After twenty years in the Roughs, Wax has been forced by family tragedy to return to the metropolis of Elendel. Now he must reluctantly put away his guns and assume the duties and dignity incumbent upon the head of a noble house. Or so he thinks, until he learns the hard way that the mansions and elegant tree-lined streets of the city can be even more dangerous than the dusty plains of the Roughs.

After finishing the first trilogy it was a bit hard for me to jump 300 years and leave all those characters I got accustomed to.. but Brandon Sanderson left me very impressed once again and this was perfectly made and I can’t wait to get through the rest! (Also so happy that it’s the same narrator as the first era of mistborn haha)

Thought this was spin-off, a silly short story. I was wrong and glad I was. I’ve been binging Sanderson books. Amazing writer and the images he paints in your subconscious is gratifying.

It is a fun, quick book to listen to! The narration is spot on, and the character Wayne will keep you laughing, throughout the book.

So great, it really is addicting. I can give the author so much praise but it would not be enough.

Not as good as the original triad, but it's Sanderson so it is still a good and a fun read. As always, the narration is brilliant!

So very superb (to other "Sweeping, Epic Fantasies"); so beautifully Sanderson!Taking place many years after the original trilogy, the lead characters are a joyful shift from the despair of Mistborn. The opening is a jolt, before we get to spend time with our protagonists, and there are twists and emotional surprises that will not be forgotten. The magical system in this world remains one of the best...and having just finished this book, I look forward to tomorrow and beginning the next! Don't forget to leave an item, when you trade for another. Up the Town!

Love the Cosmere and this tale has some weird west vibes that I can dig!

Profile Avatar Geoff Thomas Sep 2016

Fun read. Serious audio technical flaws. Narrator alone is worth the purchase.

Profile Avatar Judy Cannioti Mar 2016

Keeping it short and fun, Sanderson doesn't engage in the world building and this leaves this sequel less satisfying and rich with ideas and philosophy than the first Mistborn books. I liked it, but didn't love it like the others. Still it's a fun read.
