Unabridged Audiobook
This book was so amazing. Most stories in the romance genre start at the beginning of a relationship or the beginning of a second chance at romance. This story starts two years after the demise of a marriage of two people who would probably love each other until the end of time following back-to-back tragedies, which neither of the main characters had handled their grief well. It is a story full of tears, misunderstandings, and misplaced anger of two people who were desperately struggling to find a way to move on. I shed more than a few tears as this couple processes their losses and begin to really communicate about the decisions they made as a result of their trauma. Finding the happy ending to this story was an incredibly satisfying feel-good moment. Kennedy Ryan wrote an insightful, well researched story that grabs the listener from the beginning to end. She conscientiously researched the impact of loss and the process, impact, and cultural biases toward seeking therapy in the African American community. The narrators were perfect in reading their characters POV. Everyone should read this book.
This book kept my attention from beginning to end. I loved that it touched on so many different subjects, and the characters were relatable.
