We were forced to read this drivel in school (Poland) it was unrealistically compiled forgetting basic human traits such as greed and altering output levels of workers. A common utopia isn't possible with humans, maybe later with A.I.

Guilty of the negative claims it makes against capitalism, if the philosophy worked the USSR would never have fallen. There's a reason the telephone, electric light, automobile and airplane, radio and TV, the computer and the internet were invented in America. Modernism, invention and production are good and positive for economy and society.

Critique of capitalism is superb. We know where that is taking us and the planet. Problem is the alternative is very difficult to make work.

The consequences of communism is written in the blood of dead millions throughout history.

I’m glad I was able to listen to this because I doubt I’d have made it through reading it. I do wish they had hired a narrator with a bit more oomph, though; this is a work that, misguided in motives and disastrous in outcome, inspired millions to change the world. The narrator in this version may as well have been reading an inventory of a dry goods store for all the excitement in his voice.

always worth a revisit

I always wanted to read this but now feel it was a waste of time. The naration was clear and precise .

This is a book that defines the opposing view point of capitalism. The history of when this book was written where companies were taking advantage of workers and giving out uncharacteristically low wages. It does provide good critique of capitalism and should be read by all.

Well worth a read.

Thoroughly enjoyed Marx definition of the war between the classes. He made some really great points. With that said, his recommendation for the alternative a state run system without classes is absolutely ridiculous. Still going to need individuals to run the state programs. So if this system was to be implemented I'm guessing him (Marx) being the author would be chosen to run it!?!?! Narcissism and the plight for power at its finest. Glad I read this just so I can, again, be more synical of the McCarthy era!!
