Unabridged Audiobook
What an interesting look at the criminal mind. The narration was excellent! I think this was big part of why this story was interesting.
Crime and Punishment is an incredible read. Certainly a classic, it is a thought-provoking discourse on human nature and explores human guilt, the nature and possibility of redemption. Unlike most of the television narratives and much of modern thought, it acknowledges that the actions of people may not be formed of simple motives. Rather, Dostoyevsky's characters are complicated and do not fully understand themselves nor their motives. I enjoyed the narration as well, though it was somewhat drowsy at times.
Book was decent but the reader was rather bland. Most of the time he ended every sentence on a down note making everything thing sound doubtful or questioning.
Wasn't a big fan of the narrator. There was something in the way it was read and the cadence in his voice. Most of the time I lost track of which character was which in the story line.
I enjoyed this book from start to finish. Excellent narration—only criticism was it was too quiet, I like to work as I’m listening and I had to strain to hear over subtle background sounds. But I give the story and the narrator a 5-star rating. Thanks to Expatriate for taking your time to give me (and others) a great, entertaining listen!
I listened to it to remember this story as I read it before. I enjoyed again.
An amazing listen, great story and characters and an insight into a criminal's mind.
The narrator's voice is very clear.
Perfect vocal frequency for this difficult novel, thoroughly enjoyed his beautiful pronunciation of such challenging to pronounce names and his laugh, it was just as my minds eye envisioned! A well read message of at times graphic moral gravity and faith in human redemption and eternal reward.
leading part clothes like rags already living a father's life awesome
The reading was not great. Some of the verbal expressions were the opposite of the description. Should pay more attention to the content you are reading.
A compelling story of redemption and an incisive social commentary on double standards when it comes to the committing of crimes
Good reading. Good performance. Would recommend.
Not finished with this yet. It's a classic ,so I thought it was a choice. I don't have time anymore to actually sit down with a book.Audiobooks keeps me "well read". Try as I might, this readers' voice I found SO annoying, I stopped listening. Not sure I'll continue..with this recording anyway.
Read it in my teens. had to read it again as an adult.
I hate to complain, especially when a book is “free,” but frankly the narrator missed the mark completely on this one. Although he is articulate enough, he has a very consistent negative inflection at the end of all of his sentences which creates a very false sense of what mood I think the book is trying to portray, and becomes unbearable at times. Also all of the characters sound exactly the same so you don’t know who is speaking. I’m 1/4 of the way through this version. I don’t know if i can make it all the way. The content is solid. Would love to finish it...
The narrator is very difficult to listen to and multiple times I found myself torn between wanting to finish the story and giving up on it because of him. He expresses minimal variation in his tone, and the pace he reads is rushed. The librevox declaration at the start of every chapter is redundant and annoying
This novel was such provactive and enchantimg read. It casts light on the hardships a criminal endears when the criminal invokes himself into a malicious scheme.
Great book. Though rather harrowing. Brilliant writing. Really well read.
A very deep book in the sense that you can feel what the authors true life story was and how it’s reflected in many of his writings. The depth that a person can be driven to under unbearable poverty. I enjoyed it.
A geat novel, describes pstchological state of man in a precise detail, although there were some irreverent events mentioned which made tge novel long. Excellent narration! especially at late parts.
