Unabridged Audiobook
The book is excellent and tells the Overlord story in great detail. I will definitly listen to it again to get more of the details in! The narration is just bad.. The narrator absolutely butchers every German and Dutch word he comes across and even manages to make mistakes in English placenames. To not take the slightest effort in doing the research on how to pronounce words is bad enough on its own as a professional voice actor, but with the number of times 'Ost-Battalions' come up in this book it really is infuriating to hear the same mistake being made again and again. Hitlerjogend? Arnheim? These aren't ancients languages you know... get someone in Europe on the line and get a sense of how these things are pronounced. You are forgiven if the pronounciations are slightly off, but to butcher them like this in a (presumably professional) narration is is just plain insulting.
Great book. The through research gives you a great macro and micro view of D-Day. While a full comprehensive review of that day is unlikely to be written, this is likely the best you will find.
Outstanding!
