Dark Lover

JR Ward is one of those writers that grabs me on some emotional level that I can't explain. Her Black Dagger Series is terrific and I wanted to listen on audio format . But the books have so many characters I wondered if a single reader could do it justice. I was especially worried since the reader was male and I don't always like how men do female voices. Well it works. The first in the series, Dark Lover introduces this interesting world, with a new twist on the vampire genre. As those who read the books know, it is a somewhat violent world at times. But the characters are well drawn and the whole thing grabs me by the throat. My only complaint is that SA doesn't carry all the books in To-Rent format!

Absolutely loved this. I listened to this to and from my 1hr commute to work and found myself sneaking to the car to listen.

I don’t know. I wanted to really like this because of all the other reviewers but I found it hard to get into and all the main men not really likable until maybe the end. I am still on the fence with most of them. It did pick up towards the end which I enjoyed. Not sure if I will continue.

Took me a bit to get into this story. The narrating is alright but not exciting. If you hold out for awhile the story does get enticing.

Story we extremely long winded and there were to many povs for my liking. Though i liked the ideas and the camaraderie among the Brotherhood. I would also like to know what happened to butch later. So I guess I'll have to hang inn there and try to finish the series. Wish there was a different narrator.

A slow build initially but once I got further into the story it definitely picked up and just kept going. I look forward to reading the other books in the series.

The only thing that could have made this book better, would be dual narrator's. JR Ward can develop a story and characters like no one else. You certainly have to pay attention, due to the vast number of characters. Love this book

Yes, THIS will be addictive. This is a great series I can already tell. J.R. Ward cuts straight to the point which I love in a romance.

A VIP selection. Enjoyed the book. Like vampire stories. Got little confused as to what I am used to though. These vampires can eat, drink, of course have sex. Don’t drink blood of humans sound like distant cousins from twilight series. Not sure I will continue the series 16 books is a lot. More of a trilogy person Some steamy sections.

I have read all 18 books in this series and loved everyone of them so decided to go back and listen to all of them again from the beginning and it's a pleasure. J.R. Ward never disappoints and is a genius when it comes to writing and narrator is one of the best ever and brings the characters to life. It's great he has narrated every single book.

Great story, I’ve already started listening to the second book. The narrator is clear and expressive. I hope he reads for all of them.

I have read the whole Black Dagger series but its really different when you "hear" it . I loved it and it kept me completely entertained.

this book was extremly good! it was suspenful, eroctic and thrilling. im downloading the second book right away and am so excited there are a total of 11 books in ther series. Not a fan of the narrator tho, didnt do the best job. just seemed like he was reading the book and not putting much life in the characters. but the book was still amazing!
