Unabridged Audiobook
It has a lot of repetitive stories just to make book longer which it makes it boring at end
I would describe the experience of listening to this book as a combo of boring, irritating, and painful. Since Kristen Neff is so often included in lectures with other authors I respect, I really really wanted to like this book. There was almost nothing I liked. The writing is repetitive, she states she's a scientist but the book is mostly based on her subjective opinions, and she seems to lack self-awareness or have a conscious. She uses her own behavior as an example of how to practice self-compassion but the examples she gives show some pretty problematic behavior and she never acknowledges the others she hurt or was disrespectful toward. It comes across as so self-centered, to the point of being narcissistic. The last 30 min...ouch. She took her autistic son to a healer in Mongolia because that's where horses originated...huh? Wrong on so many levels. If I could have a do-over, I'd like the 10+ hours back. Even listing at 1.25x couldn't make this end soon enough.
