Unabridged Audiobook
I got the book because I like the series on HBO. I have no idea how the writers of the series got such great ideas off this piece of literature. Not only was the story line boring, it was confusing. And the ending was terrible. I expected it to be the beginning of the next chapter; but nope... it just ended. I'm not sorry it did.
First, I was interested in the premise. Half of the people in the world disappear. What next? Yes, I know this had been done before in the "Left Behind" series, but I gave up on that series somewhere around book 9 or 10. So, I was interested to see how this author would handle it in one book. That would be a really action packed book! Wrong! The author pretty much ignored the aftermath. We follow 4 or 5 characters to see how they dealt with it, but that's it. SPOILER ALERT There is never a second event. We just follow those peoples lives over a few month period. And honestly, it didn't seem to have much of an effect on their lives. I can see why they made this book into a TV series. It literally has no ending. It just kind of stops. With one CD left to listen to I was fascinated to see how the author would bring this all to a close that quickly. Easy answer - he didn't. He just quit writing.
